The only problem with Head is his D due to his height. Also, it is quite clear that Head is more efficient at SG than at PG. A successful team always has a great PG, like a good car always has a good engine. Alston is not gonna do it. Tmac...don't know. Bill...I wish.
Battier really needs to look for his own shot more often, especially when he's posting up. He's a pretty reliable offensive option down low, but he seemed to be looking for 3-point shooters too often.
I think we need another scorer, bonzi is the only one with that in his arsenal but he is lost right now. We also need a better passer, last night they pounded it into yao when he was in position, but he only makes around 35-40% of those shots, still good, but he had only one or two other plays from slashers driving to the hoop, whereas with Tmac he had at least 8 points from plays like that.
Battier can be a decent third option. He's got a great three point shot and he's a decent low post option. Luther Head is my pick, however, as he's shown he can stroke the long ball and he can slash to the basket and finish, but he rarely ever does. Bonzi Wells would be great as a third option if he committed himself and JVG would play him.
To everyone mentioning Luther. The only problem with Luther is that he is really only good (and by good I mean "great") at hitting the 3ball. He really has no midrange game and seems to get a bit panicked when he drives to the hole (which usually means an errant pass or an awkward shot). I think he's gonna be great in years to come, but he needs to work on other aspects of his game. Battier needs to step up. The guy is fully capable of putting up 13-15 a game and needs to start doing it. I didn't see him enough in Memphis to really see what works for him (other than 3's and post-ups he does here) Bonzi could be the answer, but he needs to get in shape and permanently out of the doghouse (it was a good sign last game that he seemed to be smiling and paying attention in timeouts. Good first step)
Look at this picture. Yao didn't play well yesterday coz he and kobe were acting in broke back mountain. We should limit yao's minutes to avoid sth like this. !!!
