As of today. --- MEM: 33W - 38L. Losing streak 1, 3-7 last 10 games POR: 33W - 39L. Winning streak 1, 6-4 last 10 games SA: 31W - 38L. Winning streak 2, 6-4 last 10 games PHX: 31W - 39L. Winning streak 5, 7-3 last 10 games --- Opponents left. MEM: Boston and Milwaukee. (...yikes) POR: Dallas and Brooklyn. (maybe split one, win both) Spurs: Houston and Utah. (losing one or both) Suns: OKC, 76ers, Dallas. (they're on a hot streak... no idea really) --- Memphis seems to be slipping. I'll go with the safe choice: Portland, having Nurkic back seemed to help quite a bit. Suns really seem to be the cinderella story.
Portland will get the 8th seed and will take on Memphis in the play in. They will win it either 1-0 or 2-1. Seems like the most realistic scenario to me.
MEM loses both → drops to 33-40 (.452) POR wins both → finishes 35-39 (.473) SA splits → finishes 32-39 (.451) PHX goes 2-1 → finishes 33-40 (.452) In this scenario I'm not sure how the tiebreaker would work between MEM and PHX. (PHX is 1-3 against MEM and would finish behind in conference record as well so I'm assuming MEM wins tiebreaker). POR wins 1-1 against MEM to lock up the 8.
I would be very surprised if Memphis manages to lose both of their last 2 games and misses out. Their opponents will have nothing to play for and should bring out their deep benches. Well if they cant win one even after all this then they just dont deserve to be there.
all memphis needs to do is win 1 more game and they're automatically in for the play-in 8th seed. It doesn't matter what the other teams do win/lose. they control their own destiny. to me, I don't think they'll beat boston or the bucks.
I would not be surprised at all if Portland plays the Lakers in the 1-8 matchup and beats LA. They have size and scoring to do it.
Remaining schedules are important. Eastern teams are playing meaningless games. Those will be easy wins. So Memphis and Portland have the advantage and will likely be the two play in teams.
memphis will not beat the bucks to get in. boston and the bucks are trying to play well going into the playoffs. that's their culture they've established.
Wow! The race to the play-in tournament in the west is a 4-team virtual tie. I think Phoenix and Portland get in.
I have a feeling Milwaukee is going to play all bench vs Memphis, but their bench is still pretty good. I hope it's Portland and Phoenix in the play-in game(s). That's be must see tv for hoops fans.
Nobody got an extra game. Stop with the misinformation. Every single team is getting 8 games in the bubble. They earned every bit of where they are
