Will's sketch stuff is superior and the roles he has played in movies have been funnier.

That's all I care about, so Will by far.

Will Ferrell is a natural while Jim is a trying-hard type of comedian.

I wasn't saying that he lacked range and every other comedian was over flowing with range. I just thought that the comment was off about Will Ferrell in particular.

I think Adam Sandler plays A LOT of the same parts. He does have a few different ones thrown in there like Punch Drunk Love and Spanglish.

i think it's been mentioned a little already, but you really can't compare them b/c it's apples to oranges. their humor is completely different from e/o (as far as movies are concerned).

I hate Jim Carrey the comedian, but love Jim Carrey the actor. I hated all of his comedy movies such as Ace Ventura, The Mask, Liar Liar, etc. I'm not using the word hate lightly either, I wanted all of his characters in these movies to die a painful death.

Some of the comedy pictures that Ferrell has been in are some of my favorite movies of all time. Old School, Anchorman, and his small roles in Zoolander and Wedding Crashers are at the top of my list.

    Will Ferrell gets my vote.

Definitely Carrey. For me, it's not even close, and I wouldn't even consider myself to be a big Carrey fan. I did not find Anchorman funny at all.

I don't think it's apples to oranges. Just look at the SNL when Carrey hosted. It was the funniest episode from start to finish in the last 20 years IMO. Every skit was funny. Why? Because Jim Carrey was in them.

Dick and Jane wasn't exactly a drama.

For those of you that say Ferrell has no range, he's about to test that somewhat with this movie:

    Stranger Than Fiction trailer

Again, this isn't about who's the better actor, just who's funnier.

Totally agreed. Dumb & Dumber is the only slapstick Carrey movie I can handle.

To be fair, Adam Sandler has two different characters:

    1. The good-hearted idiot (Billy Madison, Waterboy, Little Nicky)
    2. The working class hero (Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds)

    ;)

Ferrell is winning the poll?

I am glad our country doesn't depend on you guys to vote for the president, otherwise... wait. nvm.

I pick carrey, I just don't like ferrell style of humor.

This is an interesting poll because these guys seem to be the yin and yang of comedy. Jim Carrey makes me want to rip my eyes out of my sockets and pour acid down my eardrums. But I find Will Ferrell quite enjoyable.

Same here. I absolutely love Dumb & Dumber. The one Carrey exception.

    i agree with this.

"early" carey was definitely slapstick, where as (or is it whereas) ferrell is ummmm... i don't know, but it's not slapstick. honestly i'd campout for an ace ventura 3. can you imagine? ventura being a nature freak, but going against snakes? with that being said...

... "ace ventura 3: snakes on an ace" OR you could go the alien v predator/jason v freddy route with "snakes on a plane 2: ace versus snakes". :D

i think the most fair comparison would be carey/sandler. both started off slapstick movies, then warm-hearted movies, then serious roles.

before i forget... my vote goes for carey.

Me, Myself and Irene, Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty are some of my favorite movies. I thought Fun with Dick and Jane was pretty good too.
