I'm a Lowry fan, but Dragic would be my choice if I could keep only one for all of the reasons the OP listed. However, Lowry is locked into his contract while Dragic is not. Dragic, like Nash, will be around for a long time because he understands there are bigger, nastier players in the paint. Lowry reminds me of a younger Steve Francis the way he crashes into people trying to make the basket and draw the foul. That's why he spends so much time sprawled on the floor.
The ball movement has been great these last few games. I don't know if it has anything to do with Lowry or Martin. The Rockets still need Lowry's clutch shotmaking.
This year it is: 17 pts 8.4 assists 3.8 rebounds 2.6 turnovers 1.4 steals 54% fg and 46% 3pt% Last season it was: 13.4 pts 1.4 steals 7.8 assists 7.8 rebounds 42% fg 33% 3pt%
So what you are guys are saying is that we should include Lowry in Gasol deal? Scola, Lowry, Thabeet, Williams for Gasol, mcroberts, Blake and 2 first rounders? Resign Dragic

But realistically, those shooting numbers are not sustainable over a long term. I think he is definitely a capable starter, though.
Don't know that. Personally, I am convinced that Pau and Dragic is an immediate upgrade from Scola/Lowry and I'd be willing to go to war with that since we are going to shoot for the playoffs and not the lottery. On top of that, if it came down to trading for Dwight next season and Dragic performs well for the remainder of this season and can be re-signed to a reasonable MLE money type deal, then I would think that Orlando would be highly interested. I think Dragic, Lee, Parsons, Pau, Patterson would be a team that would cause OKC a lot of problems in the playoffs. And if you add another big like Kaman, we might be able to take them out. Of course, if we trade for Pau, the likelihood is we will finish around 6th and be playing the Clippers or Lakers. I think we could take the Clippers. I think a 7-game series with the Lakers would be quite epic with the players changing teams. Don't think we'd win that one but it would be very entertaining nonetheless. All that being said, I don't know what is in our best interest long-term at this point if Dwight is indeed off the table. I don't know about the wisdom of going after DWill unless he is willing to commit for one season like CP3 did and Dwight is apparently doing now.
Durvasa, do you mind pulling up the shooting numbers for the team these last 6 games or so? I'd like to see TS, EFG, shooting percentages, points scored, PPS, number of FTs, averaged against what it looks like with Lowry and Martin out there.
Knee-Jerk... Lowry is consistent as a STARTER. Goran has never been a starter for a long, long period of time. The answer is easy: Kyle is the better player overall. Plus, if he lacks in shooting in comparison to Goran, he makes up for it in athleticism and aggressiveness. I don't see Goran going for rebounds and pushing himself on defense.
what.......???? You haven't seen Goran playing D the last couple weeks??? And you haven't seen him playing the same in-your-grill defense the whole season??? And Lowry is more athletic???? Huh??
Oh oh its Dragic You knoooooowwwww Never believe it aint so Kidding But really, Dragic Johnson is sick.
Lowry's been bothered by some kind of injury all season and his defense has taken a hit because of it. Dragic looks helter skelter on defense but he recovers and gets back to stick on his man.
I said this when he arrived last year. Dragic has a unique skill that only elite point guards have. Its the ability to keep his dribble alive in the paint. I'm not saying he's better than Lowry, but I do think he has borderline all-star potential if he gets starter minutes. I would love to keep him.
Is Lowry really that consistent though? Some games he looks like a top 5 PG and other he looks very mediocre. I do agree that Goran has to prove he can do it for a larger time span before we put him above Lowry.
If Kaman costs a second rounder I would do that OR then we can turn around and trade Martin, Hill, Flynn, and Morris for humphries, petro, morrow, farmar and 2 first rounders. We would kill our cap space but would have 5 first rounders! And with Gasol, Hump, Patterson and Dalembert we could play with anybody in this years playoffs.
That's my point. True, he's played well the last couple of weeks. Can he play great D like that for an entire season as a starter? Can he take over a game like Kyle has shown? Also, in terms of pressure, I think Goran is more apt to turn the ball over especially in the 4th. I think he could be a starter, but he's definitely not "better" than Kyle at this time.
This is a VERY good point. I have a feeling that Kyle's career will be shorter than most PG's because of this. For Kyle's game to be effective he has to be going 110% all the time. I love Lowry, I liked him over Brooks when he was here but Dragic just has that feel for the game and the way he sees the court. I think with starter's minutes he could become as good as Kyle if not better.
this reminds me of when those 2 chicks had to go that one king to decide who had had best assets! I want them both. Run something like what fuhrer runs, have dragic playing the 2.
