Yao clearly PWNED Dwight Howard tonight. Yao's 26/10 with a win over Dwight Howard's 16/8. Yao showed why he's the #1 center in the NBA even playing in a Rick Adelman offense that's so not suitable for him. YAO POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I stated earlier, Yao is better because you can run the offense through him. You can't do that with Dwight. He is still in the finisher mold. Give me the guy that creates shots for others. I also like the fact that Yao is a better man defender, but considering Dwight is a better help defender I guess it's not that significant....
Has howard torched Yao for 30/15 before? What make you believe that? These two are always competitive head to head so neither will be destroyed by each other. Quit being a p***y YOF and watch the game.
Tonight's game and several prior games for both teams show how premature it was for so many to declare Howard had already surpassed Yao. I expected the Magic (and Howard) to cool down some after the strong start. The same thing happened last season. If he improves again, maybe next year Howard will overtake Yao. Right now, it's very close.
Offensively, Yao has no match among all centers of NBA. Defensively, Yao can not compare with D Howard. From a overall point of view, I would choose D Howard as best center of the league.
I would too, but only for his potential. If I were trying to win this season, or say in the next two I would take Yao. Howard still has a lot to learn. I think he will eventually but he isn't there yet.

Hmmm...I'm having trouble finding a previous post I made. But tonight followed that same sentiment: on average Yao is better head to head, but Howard is better then Yao against the rest of the field.
It seems like some of the posters are disappointed that Yao performed against D-Ho, better than expected. D-Ho will be a great player in years to come, we will probably have much better numbers than Yao. But right now, he is not as good Yao the truth be told. People will point to the numbers, but in 95 D-Rob had better numbers than both Shaq and Dream. But that doesn't necessarily make him better center. OT: Orlando always start off on hot streak and fade out as the year goes along, most people were saying that would be the class of the East after Det and Bos, but really not so. They're 22-13, but they play in a much weaker conference. If you put them in the west, and put Rockets in the east, you would see two team almost totally flip flop, we would win an extra 4 to 6 games, the Magic would lose an extra 4 to 6 games. They've got good talent, but I doubt they finish in top 3 or even make it out of the first round.
Their head-to-head match-ups have not been not really competitive -- much in Yao's favor -- until this year, still, Yao outplayed DHo. But my question to you is, what makes you think WhoMikeJames is a YOF, the way he voted in this thread (that DHo is better than Yao)? LOL

Howard is still not a polished product. He have no range, his post moves are still limited and the most important thing is he can't out-muscle Yao. Yao is not afraid of matching up with this type of players. The ones who can give him most troubles are those who can shoot mid-range J and put the ball on the floor and dribble past him. Unless Howard can develop those skills and have more post moves, Yao will still outplay him. Given his development so far, I am sure he will get it someday. I will still take him over Yao just based on potential.
I think yao is better than dhoward for now, but it was only ONE game. Shaq clearly outplayed yao earlier this season but nobody is going to say he is better than yao at this point.
