Everybody with any taste loves the Beatles but me.

Thats probably my biggest blasphemy...I also am not a big Radiohead fan.

Any gangster rap in the last 2 years...... How many songs can you make about money, jewelry and women are only good for pouring Cystal on?

New Radiohead. I liked Pablo Honey. I loved The Bends. I loved OK Computer. I liked assorted songs from Amnesia and Kid A. I couldn't stand HTTT. I didn't even bother going to see them last time they were here. They have become WAY too pretentious for me. It would be nice if Johnny Greenwood (one of my favorite rock guitarists) would actually play his guitar every once in a while instead of always doing this:

The Strokes, The Vines, The Hives and all the other "the" bands that are so popular right now. They all look and sound the same to me. You can put Jet in there as well. Stop trying to imitate early Rolling Stones and/or ACDC.

Incubus, Hoobenstank, or any other band that dominates the "college radio" Top 10 and get played on 104 when I get my haircut. :D

The "blinq blinq" era hip-hop. Remember when rappers used to actually rap about things besides cars, jewelry, money, and ho's? Have you ever noticed that all hip-hop videos (besides Outkast) look exactly the same? They all have a bunch of people behind the artist, a bunch of ho's shaking their asses in super slow motion. They all have people flashing jewelry. They all have lot's of bright colors and slow motion. Talk about played out...

BTW, I don't really consider DMB a "jam" band.

I like the old skool country a lot better than the whimsical stuff I hear or even worse hear and see nowadays...

I am giving it the college try, but Bruce Springsteen does not do it for me really. I respect him, but something is not clicking. The sound of psuedo blue collar constipation is not my cup of, um, tea.

Franz Ferdinand, on the other hand, rock the casbah!

Mostly all of Rock - I am aware of the fact you could say the exact same thing about hip-hop, but the mainstream radio and MTV will only play the same old generic crap with the same lyrics and the same themes over and over again until I puke.

Notorios BIG, Jay-Z, Big Pun - I hear these guys mentioned as the greatest rappers and I hear their stuff and most of doesn't impress me at all.

True. I guess I'd say "Top 40" in my mind is any music that lacks originality, style, or substance (definitely not Norah Jones), is slickly overproduced and relies more on marketing and sex appeal than muscianship to sell records (see Brittney). Or maybe I should have called it bubblegum pop.

Now as far as those who can't get into the White Stripes or the Strokes, I remember the one time I saw the Strokes on SNL. I thought they were the absolute worst band I'd ever heard in my life. And then I'm amazed to read all of these music critics slobber blindly over their music as if it were the greatest ever. Reminds me of that line from Cheech and Chong's "Earache my Eye:"
Add Oasis to my list. When you have decent, but not great songwriting and you dare say you are "better" than the Beatles, you are not deserving of much respect. Oasis is a massive overhype. Champagne Supernova? What the hell is that?

Well, I love both of those.

Radiohead is very average, for me (I used to play cricket with Ed though, who was a really nice guy).

Lots and lots of modern music too. Oh, and Rush.

There are lots of artists and groups that I cannot get into, but as most of you know, my musical tastes are a little different. However there is a long list of music I stay away from. Some of you will disagree, but here are just some of the musicians/groups I simply cannot get into, in semi-chronological order.....

    Pat Boone
    Herman's Hermits
    The Partridge Family
    Leif Garrett
    The Bay City Rollers
Billy Joel (after his first album)
    Styx
    Rush
    Judas Priest
    Motley Crue
    Guns & Roses

I no longer listen to commercial radio stations, so I no longer can name what's trendy, though I'm sure I wouldn't like it ;)*. I never cared too much for grunge and would rather hear Pearl Bailey than Pearl Jam any day. I do kind of like the White Stripes - any band that would cover Blind Willie McTell's outrageous "Southern Can is Mine" and would produce Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose merits my attention, though I need to hear more of their work to form a better opinion.

*By the way, what the hell is a Hoobieskank anyway?
