I mean, one of the guys literally says "I'm a racist." Another guy says they tolerate black people... But yeah, let's go after @Sweet Lou 4 2 for calling them racist. I guess this is just another example of people being more concerned with being called racist than actual racism.
These guys are clearly racist by their own word. It's not about being superior - it's actually quite depressing to see this. I am not sure what kind of world you live in that makes you think this is being done to make people feel superior. The irony is that racism is about the racists feeling superior, not the other way around. You're getting twisted around badly.
I have to agree with this. I get kinda tired of the outrage over the "how dare you infer I'm at all racist" instead of debating the merits of the racism that is actually the point of topic. Newflash... America has racism issues. Has had them for centuries. You can either get defensive about it if you think you are being questioned, or you can say that maybe its something we should talk about and address. I had beers yesterday afternoon with someone that expresses deep racism from time to time. He's otherwise a really good guy, but its not going to help anyone if I just stop having any human connection with this person, or publicly shame him. However. let's be honest here please.... Trumpism is very much rooted in racism. Maybe you didn't vote for him because of the racist campaign he ran/runs, and there were other reasons why, but the heart of the Trump movement is about race, and white grievance. There's just no way of avoiding that obvious fact. So the defensiveness when "how dare you question whether I'm a racist" just isn't something I take seriously. I've watched bits and pieces of SBC's new show, and they are openly stating they are racist. One Congressman actually says "Sand N$%#'s" and bites a fake penis off of a fake Islamic terrorist. Debate SBC's methods & dirty humor all you want, but what's happening IS actually happening on his show. There's no reason why they should get let off the hook just because SBC is kind of a repulsive person himself. It also doesn't mean that we have to have a consensus that everyone that pushed the button to vote for Trump is as repulsively racist as the people on this show. However it doesn't change the fact that yes.... Trumpism at the heart of it as a political identity is racist as F&*#, and I don't think its too much to ask of Trump voters to at least realize the obvious facts about Trumpism. Doesn't mean they are scum of the earth because they voted for him & it doesn't mean we should publicly shame everyone who punched that ticket. Just stop being so damn defensive about it. Makes you look more like a racist when you get defensive about Trumpism and race.
I think you meant to respond to Bandwagoner. I made no comment on superiority. My only point is you seem to obsess about race which is something I just do not understand. I only care about the human race.
Speaking of racists Why isn't it the people's documented racist policies and actions the people obsessed with race rather than the people complaining about it? Your insinuation is just stupid.
The poor guy was forced to use N word over and over. Not a racist bone in his body. He was just fooled.
We can call them racists. Some of them even admitted it. I just think it's wrong to project all of America to have the same views as that small community. As for Senator's hypothetical, he'd probably get a similar reaction. Small homogenous cultural groups don't view outsiders positively.
I don't know why you say I "obsess" about race or what you mean by that - frankly it's a weird thing to say since if I look over my posts they touch on various topics from government, environment, and yes topics involving race. Perhaps as a minority who grew up in the south I know racism first hand and am still exposed to it on more subtle levels. Racism is part of my life as I can't control the way people judge me for my exterior appearance, but that doesn't mean I am oblivious to when people are judging me for it. I don't expect nor seek any kind of empathy or whatnot from anyone. I do quite well for myself. Instead, I want a logical discussion around it for others. I'm not here to put you down (although I admit I insult just like everyone else) but rather to actually exchange ideas believe it or not.
Since we are being all open and honest, I can say I could not care less what someones race is. I judge everyone on their character. I have family members married to African Americans and I dated a Hispanic girl in high school and college that I fully planned to marry after college at the time although we ended up parting ways before college was over due to her cheating on me. I have spent thousands of hours and dollars working to help disadvantaged Hispanic children who I am quite sure at least some were here illegally. I find it utterly ridiculous when people on the left try to paint people on the right to be racist just because we want better border security and less illegal immigration. There will ALWAYS be some racist in the world from ALL races like the idiots in the video you posted. Despite what you may think, racism is not limited to white people. You always make comments about people on the right wanting to make America white again or imply we have issues with dark skin color which is just not the case except in rare extreme instances just like their are rare extreme instances of racism in every race.
This is it, this is all people ask for. Instead when it is brought up the other side just wants to completely shrug it off. It is ALWAYS the lone wolf. "That's just that one guy, that's all." or "That's just those few people." And personally, I get tired of hearing the "Well, calling them racist won't help." Like wtf, IDGAF about this dude feelings, he don't care about mine. I mean we've have stories pop up of cops either talking about or actually framing black people, but nothing gets said about it on the right. Not all of America has those views but undoubtedly the country still has race issues. Civil Rights wasn't even that long ago, people from that movement, for and against, are still alive. We still had housing discrimination...in the 2000s... We have studies that span years and years that confirm that if you are black you get longer sentences for the same thing. We see that hate crime has been on the rise since Trump won and this whole anti-muslim movement, which has been pushed by right wing talking points. That's just a thing. As @dobro1229 pointed out, Trump seems to court this behavior. Non-white people don't want to hear about how a group of white nationalists are 'Good people' in any way. Here is the thing, polls on race always reveal that conservatives are let's say...less generous when it comes to race issues. Almost every poll shows this. You can just go to pew research and find any poll on race and this is what you will find. As far as I'm concerned, as long as racism is still ruining lives, it is bad. If you are against racism then when people call it out don't fly into the discussion to try and deflect the issue or downplay it. Racism exists, yes, but it also is something that can either become near to nonexistent in a country or it is something that can grow and flourish. As far as I'm concerned, you are either for or against it, sitting in the middle, as MLK Jr so eloquently stated, is not ever an option.
Roadside bombing the Philippines kills 11. I’m sure everyone in the Philippines is hoping the largest mosque outside the Middle East is built in their backyard. Some people will inevitably shrug it off and call it a “lone wolf”, and go on to say that they don’t know whether they would rather live Japan or any Islamic country in the world. Lol.
And some people will inevitably act like the entirety of Islam is responsible for every bombing that goes on in the world. As if having a mosque built in your community means 'terrorists' and act like that's not a racist thought... Also, quoting people and mocking them without tagging them is pretty cowardly I think. If you want to come at my comment, come at it, I'm here to respond to it, also, represent it properly. The point is this. I am American. Why would you expect me to want to live anywhere that is NOT America? It's such a silly point to make. "I bet you wouldn't live in a Muslim country! HA!" No, because I'm an agnostic American, why the ____ would I want to live in a Muslim country or anywhere else for that matter when I am American? Again, there are Muslim people who wouldn't want to live here either, what point does that prove? Are we judging nations whether or not Jaygoogle or You would want to live in them? That's silly. I wouldn't want to live many places in America, again, your point? You made a silly accusation that Islam is incompatible with...I don't know, a country's success or livability? I have no idea what point you were making, you never expanded upon it. I was just thinking of all the successful Islamic nations today and throughout history that would prove you wrong, but you do you.
Bruh. The people defending the Arizona people... did you even watch the video? They said some awful things beyond just not liking the idea of a mosque.
Nobody says that religious extremists are "lone wolfs" by any stretch. Yes... often they aren't part of a larger network of organization that is a major threat of occupation like you are led to believe, but they are groomed and indoctrinated like anyone else... either directly, or passively influenced through propaganda & indoctrinization. People taken advantage of to be foot soldiers (sometimes literally) to cause socio-political change by instituting fear that drives that change needed to gain power & influence. Nobody I know of thinks that Lone Wolfs aren't threats... they are... you just don't combat Lone-Wolfs the same way you would an organized occupation force. However... that doesn't mean that it blankets an entire religion, race, or country of origin. Its a bastardization of a mainstream religion for socio-political gain. This happens with almost every religion... even Christianity is not exempt from extremism. Also - I've never heard any American ever say they would rather live in any Islamic majority country ever. America is awesome. I don't know what the F you are talking about with that nonsense. That's some Alex Jones Bull$%*& (that "liberals" want a islamic majority country or some nonsense like that).
It is true that most people are prejudice but the difference is that white people for example do not suffer the consequences of that prejudice in any way that comes even close to what brown people experience. You do not understand that because you lack empathy for minorities - meaning you don't try standing in their shoes. The issue isn't border security or illegal immigration, the issue is that these seem to only apply to situations involving minorities. No one is complaining of the tons of white Europeans overstaying their visas and living in here illegally. And that's why people suspect race is an issue. Because white illegals blend in racially better than brown illegals. And just because you dated a Hispanic girl or you have family members who are black doesn't mean you are not racist. In fact, it may only make you more blind to your own biases. Most people who are racist don't think they are racist, they rationalize their bias. I agree there are some on the left who are overzealous in their application of labels, but it's no less pervasive (and may be far less) than what's on the right.
