I want JVG back. Come on, guys. Nowadays, even Doug Collins and Mark Jackson got coaching jobs.

ANYONE but McHale. So sick of pick and rolls for 23 seconds and then throw up a shot. I loathe jump shooting teams without jump shooters.

SVG is a bad idea because he talked to much sh** about the NBA as a TV guy. I don't think we need to make the refs' hatred of the Rockets any worse.

Lolz. Yes lets fire our head coach who has had an entire shortened offseason to work with our guys. Nevermind we had a major trade approved and then nixed. Nevermind that we lost our starting backcourt for an extended period of time. I suppose asking for rational thought on an online forum is asking for the moon.

    Ideally...
Jeff and Stan in a def/off tag team duo, with Ellie and Cassell as asst. coaches, and Clyde handing out towels while Bill/Calvin call the game.

I'll do it. For half of McFail's salary. And I promise not to play Patterson without a true C when people are doing layup drills on us.

Why not? According to some posters, we already have all the floppers in place. All we need is a coach who knows how to make use of them.

First off, Mchale will not be fired. All you guys can grip and moan but Les will not him fire him after a shorten season. You have to let him coach at least one full season before we start showing up with "Fire McFail" at Toyata center.

But I will go along with the what if...My choices would be:

Flip Saunders--He made the playoffs consistantly for 8 years when he was coaching the TWolves and took the Pistions to the Conference Finals 3 years in a row.

Pat Riley--Great coach but not going to happen. He is staying in Miami and will wait for his dynasty to develop into the vision he had in mind two years ago.

Phil Jackson--Not going to happen, but just worth mentioning his name.

I mean the most realistic Head Coach option for next year is Kevin McHale. Honestly, he isn't going to be fired.

I think McHale did an admirable job all things considered ..

But next years HC depends upon what direction the FO is willing to take ....

FWIW - Give me D'Antoni next season - His offense keeps the team "semi entertaining" while his defense is laughable enough to get a top 3 pick , no matter the roster makeup.

Truth be told , I'd rather stick with McHale and go young next season , moving both Martin & Scola for a bag of chips and the backwash left over after a warm beer.

If you are gonna suck , may as well suck with a coach who can teach those kids how to play in the NBA.

Nate McMillan, by far the best available candidate.

Somebody's about to get fired. And McHale did not look good when the pressure was on or when it counted.

And that we've been waiting three years for this Gasol/Nene thing? That was what all the Morey assets and incremental moves have been about for all this time? That was the best he could get out of all that fuss?

I love Morey and I don't think we have a better option. Funny, I felt the same way about Adelman and about JVG.

I do not love McHale (he's a fine guy, just not a standout coach) and there are better options.

The Rockets are a team where (usually great) coaches come to work miracles for a couple years and then get fired because over-performing incredibly much was not enough. So coaches have stupidly gotten fired when the problem is the personnel.

If the point is every time things don't work out there is a change in leadership staff (usually coaching), as it has been since Les Alexander purchased the Rockets about 20 years ago, then McHale certainly is not safe.

But what that philosophy amounts to is smacking the TV when the picture goes out and hoping that will fix the problem. Even so, it is the philosophy of Les Alexander, Owner.

It would still surprise me if Morey were fired this off-season, but that doesn't mean he's not vulnerable. Of course he is vulnerable.
