two Q. if this is a depper draft than last why are we considering a 13 to replace an 18 from last year. we can do that with an 18 or 23!
also if we draft morris we shouldn't need another sf should we. that would leave a glut at that position

Let's just say that if David Stern walks to the podium, wipes the smirk off his face and calmly announces that "with the 13th pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets select Saul Smith from Kentucky," I will announce my allegiance to the Memphis Grizzlies on this BBS.

    Yea, I'm that nervous.

P.S: Something tells me Eric Chenowith will be a Houston Rocket 24 hours from now...

Woods,Haywood,Alvin Jones,Bradley. The Rockets made a big mistake in not taking Alexander and trading him because he was the best scorer in the draft last year.
I think that they will shock us again like they have been for the last few years, although I liked the Kenny Thomas pick.
If the Rockets don't find a player that they want at 13 then they should pick the best available player and trade him for another pick.

LOL. Chenowith. You know some Rudy supporters will be able to spin it though.

To the person who questioned Jason Kidd's J-
Did you see the Suns vs Rockets this year- Kidd nailed about 20 jumpers in route to his 50 points against no defense playing Francis and Mobley!!!

There's no way you can spin drafting Eric Chenowith! It's one thing to draft Collier as a backup center, it's another to draft Chenowith when we're going for potential starters!

It's easy to talk about Kidd scoring NOW, it took the guy 5 to 7 years to develop that J.

Murphy, Bradley, Woods, or Haywood. I'm praying for Battier, Johnson, Radman, or Diop. Although if we did get Segana, it would be imparative to keep Dream, so he can teach the senegal native the ropes. [IMG]

Dude, I'm a UK student. I love the Wildcats. But you are right, if they picked Saul I think I would cease to be a Rockets fan.

The only way for Saul to play in the L is if ole Tubby gets a job as coach. [IMG]

Ok, I'm going against the grain here to state that, if we get a SF at 13, I'm quite happy to go with Haywood at 18...Agreed, he's got questions, but I suspect that some of us are associating Haywood with Cato too much. There are similarities enough to make suppositions, but I feel conclusions are too readily reached, and we're taking our frustration with Cato out on Haywood. He's got a chance, and , unlike Cato, hasn't bown it...yet. And a cahnce on a 7 ft 260 lb athlete is worth the 18th pick.

Stern comes to the podium:"And with the 13th selection in the NBA draft, the Houston Rockets select Shane Battier"
BBS reaction: YES!!!! WE DID IT!!!

Later on: "We have a trade to announce.. the Houston Rockets (snicker from Stern), Im sorry, the Houston Rockets Trade the rights to Shane Battier to the Orlando Magic in return for Alvin Jones, Brendan Haywood, and Eric Chenowith."
BBS reaction: A record 400 suicides are reported, all of them coincidently, AT THE SAME TIME!

But seriously, I would become a Washington Wizards fan if the rockets DID ANYTHING like this.

Seriously, maybe the Alec Kessler-Meek-Collier-Chenowyth draft axis is part of the Rockets' grand, 10 year quest to find a replacement for Jim Peterson

I will be disgusted if the Rockets end up drafting and keeping Brendan Haywood. Haywood is a bust waiting to happen. However, if his name is called, I wouldnt throw something at the television just yet b/c there could be a pre-arranged trade to swap with a team like Detroit. If a strange pick is made at 13 ie. Haywood, Tinsley, etc., it could possibly be a pre-cursor to a trade.

Woods freaks me out. I am a high school basketball coach in Missouri near Woods's H.S. Cardinal Ritter. I have followed him for years and he is disturbing to me. Cardinal Ritter may be loosing their state titles they won with Woods and Carawell because it has been revealed that Ritter was paying him alot of money. When in H.S. he was 7 ft and seemed like he could really develop into something, but he would wine and wine and get into it with the coaching staff, hes a baby and built like one too. He jumps ship at Wake, he gets into it with Lute Olson at Arizona. I think he has a severe problem with authority, hes selfish, and I really dont see that changing. If anyone saw the game Arizona played against Illinois in the elite 8 this year they saw Robert freaking Archibald have his way with Woods for almost the entire game. A matchup with the Western Conference centers would be humorous to say the least. Hes got a bad back an attitude and no body to back it up. He may go in the mid first round, but I would shy away from him. Hes just as much a gamble as other centers that would go near # 13, the only plus I guess is that he has went through college. Is it possible for a zebra to shed his stripes?
