There's no other way to put it than "I love Coldplay". The only way I could understand someone genuinely disliking them is if they find Chris Martin's voice too high pitched (read: annoying) on some of the songs. I happen to really like that type of vocal though. Either way, for whatever reason, there are a lot of Coldplay songs that I can't listen to without being effected emotionally. I think that's the sign of a truly great artist. A lot of that may be due to the connection between their music and my last relationship, but I liked them before that anyway. Definitely one of those bands where I will be pissed when they break up.
look no further...i loathe coldplay. i think they are absolutely horrible and whimpy. to me, their entire career is based on ripping off the bends and specifically, their entire career is based on ripping off "fake plastic trees". all their albums sound the exact same, which shows an unwillingness on their part to evolve and grow as a band. basically, coldplay is radiohead for people who dont like all the weirdness of radiohead. coldplay is what radiohead would sound like if they had made a conscious effort to market themselves to 13 year old girls.
put down the keyboard, go to your stereo and immediately turn off the loop of clocks that you've had going for the last six months. You don't have to hide any longer. Come out of the closet, jefferey! enut pay loves cold play.
Classic... That being said, I my have listened to them every now and then...Probably more so before this movie...
you are right! thanks for setting me straight...i feel so much better now I LOVE COLDPLAY!!! viva apple! (actually, that song clocks is one of about 2 or 3 of their songs that i can tolerate)
My wife loves Coldplay. I don't know. I find their music relaxing and catchy, but at the same time pretty predictable and boring. I guess it depends on my mood. But I don't think I could actually sit through an entire CD of their music. (I've tried, and I always feel like I need to step outside and take in a breath of fresh air)
I like Coldplay but not as much as I used to. They were great live, though. Their first album is still their best, IMO, but they haven't really evolved much, IMO. And Radiohead indie?? LMAO...
I don't dislike them because that would actually require feelings. They bore me and I find them completely uninteresting. I had heard so much about them and then the first time I heard them ll I could think was, "that is it?". So, not offensive or anything but I would never choose to listen.
Try hanging out with musicians or music fans - you'll find plenty Jo mama and Rimbaud nailed it - Coldplay is a boring version of Radiohead. You hear any one of their songs once and you've heard all they have to offer. Nothing they do is incompetent, but it's never very interesting or stimulating. They're the lucky recipients of great production and our current obsession with celebrity lives (if the singer hadn't married Gwyneth Paltrow, I guarantee they'd be way less popular). Most of the "hate" for Coldplay isn't really a hate for their music, but rather a dislike that such a mediocre band has reaped so many rewards (fame, money and celebrity poon tang).
Less popular? Sure, that's only logical. Way less popular? Not so fast. I actually considered their marriage to be more of "Gwyneth Paltrow marrying Chris Martin". In fact if they weren't married, I think the last time I would have even heard her name was on Shallow Hal previews.
I've always dug 'em. I really started to like them after seeing them at Verizon a few years back and then again last February in front of the stage at Toyota Center. Their live shows are outstanding, and I'm a HUGE music snob.
