I'm pretty sure if we had Kobe and Yao got injured we are stuffed too

If i remember Kobe had exactly 0 championships to show for not having a dominant all star next to him.

just wait a week for t-mac to return.

if he returns and plays close to normal, there's nothing to complain about imo.

I haven't given up on Tmac just yet only because come playoff time he will show up unless he decides to go to sleep, then we may have a problem. However, the one person who I absolutely am sick and tired of is Rafer "I'm a transition jump shooter" Alston.

I'm tired of people making excuses about how he can set up the offense so he is sufficient enough as a starting PG. All he really does is bring the ball up and tell people to either clear for Yao or Mcgrady and passes the ball to them while he hangs out by the three point line. Sorry guys I know this thread is about McGrady, but man Rafer has got to go.

lol wow, you're right, this is all speculation. It was one game, but how many have we had Battier back for? Thats right, I said once Battier is back, we can still win without Tracy. Might not win every night, but we can still win. Our D just needs to be active, hit our 3s, and give Yao more shots.

I'm not saying we are going to dominate, but we have a deep bench and good players. We can still win. Im done.

No, I would not. What he was, and what he is are two different things. I think he will have "great" games in the future, but not that many. Injuries have taken their toll. Remember Grant Hill? The Rockets would be foolish to resign Yao as well. I think we have seen the best of Yao, about two seasons ago. It is what it is. Is the season over? No. Will there be good games ahead. Likely. Will this team go all the way? Not likely. Will more injuries likely occur? Our two stars are two of the softest and most fragile players in the league. There is your answer. I thought Les's comment last year that "we will continue to build around Yao and TMac" was not very insightful, and I still don't.

There's no point in giving up on TMac now. May as well see what happens the rest of this year and next year.

he has to play now. the 2nd opinion confirmed the initial diagnosis and his knee is not injured. he just lacks strength and the soreness comes with the rehab. he's struggling to deal with it.

he just probably has to play 25 mins a game only. he won't resume full duty until the all-star break i presume. 25mpg tracy still helps us win ballgames. he just needs to probably turn it on whenever we face really good teams.

It just goes to show our much a soft player tmac is. all the dr.s have told him to play through the pain and get it strong again. But hes to soft. thats the difference in a star and a superstar.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. :( And that's a 44 million dollar frown (next summer it could be a 23 million dollar value smile).

I'm actually to the point where I'm becoming indifferent to him. If he plays, fine. If he doesn't, well thats fine too.

giving up on T-Mac means giving up on the Rockets.

Well put. I agree completely. There is no reason to resign Yao nor McGrady. If this team does not get it done this season or next, it is time to put the T-Mac and Yao experiment to rest. We will have to rebuild.

No worries guys D-Wade and Bosh or Amare will be coming to town. :D :D :D

True, but TMac can't pass first round even he had a dominant big man.

i'm sure if he had shaq, he would AT LEAST pass the first round. he might not win it all, but he would pass the first round.

but you can't just say it's another dominant big man. you need role players to step up. we haven't had role players making big shots in the playoffs like a fisher, horry, rick fox...

in 2010, there is a good chance yao or tracy won't be here. if either one of them is still here, we'll have another star to build after anyways with the capspace.

    Agree

TMac- Like it or not he is the one player who can take over a game and he is a shell of the player he was his first Rocket season. Maybe it is injuries, but he has lost quickness and hops, and he is much less confident both driving and shooting. TMac healthy still gives us our best chance in the playoffs- will he be healthy? 50-50

Yao- While Yao has a very good low post game and has improved defensively he has peaked. A healthy Yao is a very good compliment to a healthy TMac with the skill set Tmac left Orlando withl.
Yao just isn't quick enough to dominate games. He certainly doesn't score on double teams like Hakeem or Jordan did. He is an All Star for certain but not a player that can take over a game. He will do it on occasion but not consistenty.

Artest- would have been perfect at this stage of his career if TMac was the TMac of old... a great defender and third scorer in the post.

The Rockets are in danger of losing to injuries again.

If they don't win it all this season, does anyone really think TMac will be better next season?

Kobe and YM would have won first round 2 years ago, just checked how Kobe pounded the Jazz last year. We are impatient because after years, Rox still went nowhere.
