I don't doubt the NBA has considered it at some point. I could imagine that the NBA could get a big chunk of change from Nike in order to do so as well or Nike getting a big chunk of change from the NBA.

Just nostalgia talking. The shorts would look silly and outdated. A big logo on the shorts and the "ROCKets" on the away shorts would look bad. Now, if you replaced that with a small red/white stripe(s) on the shorts ala Boston and also subtle updates to the script and logo ala Pistons. Then, hell yea go for it. You could end with something like the pre championship days jerseys which were from 1972 to 1976 which i think are better than the Olajuwon ones.

But, i think the shorts and script from champ days ruin it from fitting in the league today. We would be just as out of place in the league as we are today with our Bram Stokers Dracula "R" and Chinese takeout box jerseys. All clearly made for Yao and Toyota. I doubt we ever change the logo as long as Toyota is around i'm afraid. :(

Thing is, i would be okay with our look with minor changes. If you MUST keep the bloody, rocket "R" then make it more obvious it's an actual rocket. I believe it's ESPN that has 3d logos for every team. For the Rockets, they had flames shooting out from under the "R" logo. Incorporate that into the logo without making it look cheesy, cartoony flames and you get to make it obvious it is a rocket and also you get the opportunity to bring desert gold back with the color of the fire. Then update the jerseys to look more like progect 34's versions. http://projectthirtyfour.blog.com/
