I voted Harden but then thought about it and it has to be Jones. Dude would have played way more games if he didn't get that thumb injury. He shows flashes of being a very good player in the future. He has Ibaka potential...

its hard to say because of team chemistry, and the chance for players to gel and see what they've got. i also think we will get a better look at upside during the playoffs.but even then its not certain.

our young guys have talent, but will they take it to the next level? some already have been playing good ball and above expectations, and for those players (i hope but) i am not too optimistic that we will see the same improvement from them next year as we have seen in this season.

IMO the top 3 players who will improve most next season is:

    1.Robinson

    2.Lin

    3.Jones

Parsons ... Big game player. Guarding the best players bring out his A game offensively.

I think the obvious answer is Jeremy. Harden, if he gets awesome numbers, basically just confirms our already high belief in his abilities. Asik, if he gets awesome numbers, is also basically just confirming what we already know. Parsons can definitely show his potential but he's already thought well of. Lin, on the other hand, has a lot of people who doubt his abilities, so a great playoff performance from him can open a lot of eyes. I think he'll average 18 & 8 in the playoffs! At least that's my hope. More importantly of course is the fact that if we live up to our potential or even if a couple of our players show great potential, we can possibly pull out a first round upset, lol. Doubtful, I know, but I believe!!

Ranking based on the poll it would go like this:

    Lin
    Parsons
    Asik
    Harden
    tjones
    Dmo

Lin has the highest potential because he has put up the highest highs in his rookie year in multiple games. IMO you have to show something in your rookie year to actually have legit potential to be something. Lin did that with his sustained run with Linsanity in new york putting up huge numbers after huge numbers in new york without its team's two best players with the whole world looking at you.

Parsons is second because he has great physicals and has put up huge numbers. Same with asik terms of rebounding and defense. he has a long way to go offensively but he has shown great strides in his post game.

Harden despite being so young is already at 25/5/6. He is already nearing his potential.

Tjones is at best can be the #3 rated player on a team. Same with DMO. Neithe have batman or robin potential.

    1) Terrence Jones, followed by Parsons or Lin. I'm talking about who is going to step up. Lin has shown a lot over the last 18 months, but I think if Harden went down, Lin is capable of taking over a short series. But I'm betting on TJ.

I actually voted for Harden because I think he can turn his D up during the playoffs and truly take the superstar mantle.

We fall in love very quickly with undersized power fowards.. If Tjones can expand his game to play more small forward then I agree. But long term starting power forward isnt the ideal fit. He can be our 6th man Lamar Odom and help us compete for a long time.

    DMo.

But no one will let him play his game under the rim.

DMo has the greatest potential, but TJones will show his great potential during the playoffs.

OP how about you be little more specific? Better question who's going to outplay their regular season numbers?

    Regular season numbers
    Terrence Jones

    Per 36
    Jeremy Lin

Harden put up big numbers this season at elite TS%. I be pretty psyched if he could just match his regular season numbers. My guess teams will design defense to make it hard on him to score and he just doesn't look healthy.

I picked DMo. Size, quickness, co-ordination, concentration. Has great potential.

Given his work ethic, I think he's also most likely to develop.

To be honest Asik is a close second. I used to think he's unlikely to develop much on the offensive end but he has surpassed my expectations. His technique, agility and post game look much much much better even though we don't use it that much. He's maintained his FG% while doubling his attempts - which is a great sign. His FT% is 10% up.

Jones will get better too but I think he's realized a lot of his potential already. You can see he's capable of being a 15/8 guy and he can probably do that right now consistently if we were willing to confide in him. Unfortunately we're not at a point of the season where we can play with that much risk.

Parsons loves playing against the best and has the knack for coming through against top teams. I think he will put up some good numbers in the playoffs

Of course it is all guess work, but Jemery Lin has been a leader and a winner since mid school, high school, colleage, and the Linsanity time last year.

In the playoffs I think he will show his true color and not let McHale decide how he should play his game.

Wait a second. The thread title and the OP are different than the poll question.

Are we voting upside potential for the up coming playoffs or for the long term?

A power forward who posted 11 blocks in back to back games is not undersized...lol.. And a 7 foot power forward is useless on the defensive end if he can't block a shot or is too weak to battle in the paint.

Jones and Motiejunas are the only ones that can surprise me. Lin, Harden, Parsons, and Asik have all shown how well they can perform. (Though I won't complain if they surpass my expectations.)
