A very good place that not many know about since it's in the hood, Taqueria Sol de Mexico 1521 Wayside Dr Houston, TX 77011 713-923-1455 It is in Magnolia.
i've heard great things about Teotihuacan... really need to hit it up. i recommend Mexican Restaurant on bellaire towards/in the barrio... awesome awesome tacos for $1.50 a pop, and the horchata is fantastic. lots of good taquerias and authentic mexican in the SW area off of bellaire
In SF: El Farolito - http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-farolito-taqueria-san-francisco or, if you are ever in Marin, Taqueria mi Pueblo is very good: Taqueria Mi Pueblo - http://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-mi-pueblo-san-anselmo And, if you are talking about Tex-Mex, instead of Mexican food, then you are right.
Yup, that place is awesome. I used to eat there when I lived with my parents. El Jardin is also yummy!!! Now I want some Mexican food.
MAJOR co-sign. I used to live about a minute's walk from there...good for breakfast lunch or dinner. Now I'm closer to Taqueria de Jalisco 408 Houston Blvd, South Houston, TX same deal, breakfast, lunch or dinner...it's all good.
There are a lot of good taquerias in town. I love 'em. But, for me the best Mexican restaurant anywhere (and it's still kind of a hole in the wall joint) is Pico's Mex-Mex on Bellaire by Hillcroft. They have stuff on their menu I've never seen anywhere else, and the food is top notch.
Um I'm not trying to bust anybody's taste buds but a lot of you guys are naming places that are tex-mex and not real authentic MEXICAN (from Mexico style) food. Mexican style foods hardly uses cheese and the food style is very saucy like stew based.. Don't get me wrong I love Tex-Mex but if you guys have never tried authentic Mexican you guys don't know what you are missing. Enchiladas,Tacos,Fajita Most likely Tex-Mex Restaurant.
At first for 30 years it was on S. Shepard and then it moved on Washington by Rockefellers before Leo died and his kids eventually closed the place. Saw the guys from ZZ Top in there a couple times when I was younger. Great Mexican Food I miss it. Chapultapec is good mex mex and Pico's is pretty mex mex also.
I've always dreamed of living in Portland or Oregon for that matter. I've never visited though, but seen pictures. Closest I've been is to Washington state. Do you enjoy Oregon or would your rather move elsewhere?
Anyone that posts something other than El Tiempo is absolutely wrong. I'm a connoisseur of TexMex and it is BY FAR the best.
best tortilla soup in the states For mexican, I vote Teotihuacan. For fajitas/tex-mex, Ninfa's on Navigation
