Yes, Landry is smart, but Smart is not what I am talking about.....

It is about quick thinking, recognizing situations BEFORE they happen and putting yourself in a position to take advantage.

Scola has a very high BBall IQ, probably the highest on the Rocket's team.

I'd give that honor to Brent Barry or Shane Battier. Scola still makes a lot of mistakes, but that's to be expected from a second year player. He's definitely exceeded my expectations this season.

Battier - nah, he does not take advantage on offense......at all.

Barry though, yes, he and Scola I think are the same, both are off the charts BBall IQ guys.

Tmac could be too, but he doesn't play well off the ball enough, which hurts him overall.

He is smart, hard working and a competitor like Luis. What Landry lacks is the experience that Scola has. What he does have that Luis lacks, is athletic ability and hops.

Agreed. But this thread is talking about 'potential'.

true. but that athleticism does not translate into extra blocked shots or rebounds compared to scola's production.

I agree, but Landry is a better finisher when he is close to the basket.Luis is crafty, and makes up for his lack of athleticism at times but he misses his layups on occasions because of it.
Landry has more room for growth ie potential but will he achieve it is the question. I'm not trying to imply that Landry will become a star. Both of them are good role players.I wish they were solid defenders. They do make an effort on that end,and one can hope for some improvement there as well.

Actually, I think Battier is smart enough NOT to do more than his talent allows. That's why he appears to be not doing much on offense.
