I am in no way saying Shaq isnt worthy of this distinction, but has he really ever led a team to the finals on his own? Any by that, I mean we are talking about a guy who isnt even significant down the stretches of games. For all the guys dissing Kobe for not winning after shaq, what has shaq done without Kobe, Wade, and Penny?
If you ever have actually played basketball, you know that it's Kobe hands down. If there exists threads about who is better MJ or Kobe than you know he is near, on, or higher than the talent level of MJ. How many threads have you seen regarding if Shaq or Duncan is better than MJ. Probably not many.
I would say anyone who knows anything about basketball would know it is a two dog race, Shaq or Duncan. I think Shaq is better, but I can accept Duncan arguments as legitimate. Heck, Kobe was near his peak while on the same team as Shaq, and everyone knew who was the centerpiece of that team. The minute Shaq declined, that team stopped winning championships.
Its completely stupid to even compare Kobe to Jordan, or as the 2nd best player of all time. Kobe's fame was presented by Shaq. Then after he left don't forget that he hit rock bottom until this year. To the guy ^^^ Yes, its Duncan or Shaq hands down.
You all keep failing to realize that MJ was greater rebounder, passer, shooter (FG% wise), and better leader than Kobe ever was. When has team ever been inspired or lead by Kobe, everybody knows Shaq was top dog in LA and he was the centerpiece.....how can a player be the center piece when he is averaging less points and rebounds than player who just happens to be focal point of the offense. You also should realize the MJ was the uncontested scoring champ 7 years in a row. And his lowest shooting percentage was 48% during those years...his highest was 53%. MJ's best seasons: 86-87: 37.1 ppg, 5.2 rebs, 4.6 ast, 2.9 stls, 1.5 blks, 48% shooting 87-88: 35.0 ppg, 5.5 rebs, 5.9 ast, 3.2 stls, 1.6 blks, 53.5% shooting 88-89: 32.5 ppg, 8.0 rebs, 8.0 ast, 2.9 stls, 0.8 blks, 53.8% shooting 89-90: 33.6 ppg, 6.9 rebs, 6.3 ast, 2.8 stls, 0.7 blks, 52.6% shooting 92-93: 32.6 ppg, 6.7 rebs, 5.5 ast, 1.8 stls, 0.8 blks, 49.5% shooting just look at the lines of Jordan during 88-89, 89-90, he was getting all kinds of crazy triple doubles, rebounding like center, and doing his usual scoring. http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/pgl.cgi?player=jordami01&year=1989/ (look at his numbers during last two months of season) http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/pgl.cgi?player=jordami01&year=1990 (look at some of the Cleveland games, they really do look like Wilt Chamberlain like games, and see how MJs numbers are all over the place) Kobe's best years 05-06: 35.4 ppg, 5.3 rebs, 4.5 ast, 1.8 stls, 0.4 blks, 45% shooting 06-07: 31.6 ppg, 5.7 rebs, 5.1 ast, 1.4 stls, 0.4 blks, 46.3% shooting 02-03: 30.0 ppg, 6.9 rebs, 5.9 ast, 2.2 stls, 0.8 blks, 45% shooting 00-01: 28.5 ppg, 5.9 rebs, 5.0 ast, 1.7 stls, 0.6 blks, 46.4% shooting 07-08: 28.3 ppg, 6.3 rebs, 5.4 ast, 1.8 stls, 0.4 blks, 45.9% shooting http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bryanko01.html/ You see why Lebron may draw more comparasions to Jordan than Kobe, because Jordan was just one dimensional scorer...he was everywhere, not to say Kobe isn't, but when has kobe ever averaged close to anything what MJ did in 88 and 89. Also, I am not even comparing the playoff and finals number, which are heavily in MJs favor. The lowest MJ ever averaged in playoffs was 29.3 points in his rookie season, every other season he was in the playoffs he was over 30 ppg. And his Finals average was off the chart. Shaq's best years 99-00: 29.7 ppg, 13.6 rebs, 3.8 ast, 3.0 blks, 57.4% shooting 93-94: 29.3 ppg, 13.2 rebs, 2.4 ast, 2.9 blks, 59.9% shooting 94-95: 29.3 ppg, 11.4 rebs, 2.7 ast, 2.4 blks, 59.3% shooting 97-98, 00-01, 02-03, are all pretty much identical aroudn 27 - 28 ppg, 11-13 rebs, 2.4+ blks, shooting percentages around 57% and up. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/onealsh01.html/ Shaq has never shot below 55% in his entire career....that's remarkable. He rarely forces shots and willingly gives up the ball. Even in 05, with Miami, look at how inferior his numbers were, but look how much better the Heat got when he arrived.
Dude you are exactly right. I bet half these people never saw jordan play, he was so good that it was scary. If anyone even thinks about comparing the two watch this vid. of Jordan's progress through the NBA and how good he was even in his last year. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z9Jn_22_qgg&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z9Jn_22_qgg&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
that is just a stupid comment. without Kobe, Shaq would never won a ring as a Lakers, and vis versa. that said, Kobe has not been as dominating as MJ
Thats not what he said, you were the same person that said NONE of the bulls teams deserve to be in the top 10 championships of all time. Kobe can never compare to Jordan, let it be Kobe homer
which is true. it would h, elp it u'd learn, besides basketbal, to read. i've always maintained that MJ has been the greatest ever, and Kobe is not even 2 or 3. that said, none of MJ's championship team belong to the top 10 of all times. i know that this is too much nuance for you, way above your head !
Shutup, don't judge me on my internet experience, heck i won't even interest you on that, LIKE i said, none of Jordan's teams in the top championship teams ever? Did you watch any of those finals? Thank You
yes, i did. and i also have DVD collections of all the Bulls and the ShowTime Lakers and Bird's Celtics. and you ???
