I know he was criticised for playing Von Vafer a lot because he was defensive turnstile the same with his protege Brad Miller but don’t remember the timeouts . Could be right

Leaving out Rudy T, it would be

    1) Adelman - just a great coach who knew how to maximize the talent of his players, both young and old. He also had an excellent coaching staff, IMO.
    2) D'Antoni - knew what to do with a veteran roster and got the Rockets closest to a championship
    3) JVG - an incredible defensive tactician but on the offensive side, often showed lack of creativity (this is coming from a huge JVG fan back in the day)
    4. The rest.

I remember Adelman hating player development and leaving guys in the dog house for long periods of time. Yet I also remember JVG doing that.

At the time though, I don't think we realized just how much lack of structure we'd get from McHale and Silas later on. Grass is always greener...

Adelman had a system that was fun to watch, not even Rudy comes close. Yes we won with Rudy, but also had Hakeem healthy and in his prime...
