The Warriors drafted Dunleavy and Welsch, I think, in order to have guys who could run the halfcourt offense instead of Arenas -- or at least relieve some of the burden of running it.

What killed GS offensively last year wasn't just having a below-average ballhandler at PG (either Hughes or Arenas), it was having a below-average ballhandler at EVERY position.

What would be nice to get out of trading Fortson would be a long, athletic PF/C (someone like Stromile Swift).

Like everyone else I gotta go w/ the Rockets, Bulls, & Heat for the best drafts. Now for the worst...

The Clippers & the Cavs SUCK! You are telling me that two grown men can't but together a deal to swap picks and a couple of players.

I read an article in the Miami Herald about how the Clips/Cavs deal fell apart. I'll hook you guys up w/ an re-inactment of the convo between Baylor and Paxon.

Draft Night, 7th pick is just made by the Knicks and the Clips are on the clock:

JP: "Well I guess I'll give Baylor a call to accept that trade offer and tell him to take Butler for us."

Paxon starts to dial but sees David Stern walking towards to podieum.

Stern: "With the 8th pick in the NBA draft, the Clippers select, Chris Wilcox..."

    JP: "What tha Bleep!!!!!"

Finishes dialing Baylor's # and gets him on the line.

JP: "Baylor! WTF was that! Why in the hell did you draft Wilcox. I thought we were finalizing a trade here."

Baylor: "Oh, I wasn't sure and even though we still had a minute or so on the clock, I though I'd take Wilcox for ya'll."

JP: "Oh my God! Okay, Okay, just call the Suns up and ask them if they wanna take Butler and switch picks w/ you guys. Wilcox is better than the kid they want Stoudemire so they should go for that."

Baylor give Pho a call but for some reason, the Suns want to draft a very raw highschooler or a more polished, higher rated Wilcox (Go figure).

    Baylor calling Paxon up:

"Soory Pax, but the Suns say no deal. Don't worry, I'll get a guy at 12 that you'll love and we can still make the trade happen."

JP: "Damn it! Okay, just remember, you got the wrong kind of forward last time, we want a small forward."

    Baylor: "Another forward. Gotcha!"

JP: "No wait, we need a sma..."

Baylor hangs up before Paxon can finish. Moments later as Paxon is frantically looking for Baylor's number (dropped the napkin it was written on), The Clips are on the clock again.

David Stern: "With the 12th pick in the NBA draft, The Clippers select, M. Haslip ...."

Paxon screams and just passes out to escape the horror and Baylor sits back waiting for Paxon's call to finish the Deal..... THE END

After this tale, if you don't have Baylor and Paxon (Don't forget the Suns for choosing Stoudemire over Wilcox) at the top of your dum GM list, your list is not complete.

BEST: besides Houston; Nuggets picking up two future impact players in Tchiskivili(?) and Hilario...
WORST: Knicks: gave up Hilario for McDyess(damaged good w/ BIG contract)......Yeah, these guys are gonna suck for a VERY long time! :D

I had not heard those details. If that is the case I like the Welsh pickup. The #16 spot was pretty good this year, there was more talent #15+ than in recent drafts and likely the next few ones IMO.

Still think Dunleavy will be outclassed by the vast majority of the top 10 picks from this years draft and GS will greatly regreat passing on Gooden, Tskit, Nene, Wilcox and Butler.

And I am sorry, a front line of Damp, Jamison and MD will be atrocious defensely.

If I'm not mistaken, Isiah noticed the potential in players like Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady when they were overlooked by some "experts"

He resigned in February of 98, before they drafted Carter

He also picked Camby in 96 in front of: Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant, Shareef Abdur Raheem, Antoine Walker, Steve Nash, Jermaine O Neal.

He also ran the CBA into bankruptcy and barely made the playoffs by finishing .500 with a talented team in the worst division in basketball in the pathetic east. He iced his own shooter, Jermaine O Neal on the foul line v. NJ in the playoffs. During games he just sits there like he is on Vicodin and doesnt say anything.

If jones turns out to be another stoudamire, maybe you are right , I doubt it though.
