ok let me rephrase "the rockets will probably try to add him to the vipers if he passes through waivers, which is a low probability"
You have to understand D-league contracts worth NOTHING and only total NBA vet scrubs will take those contracts playing there. Ish has not reached the level of Josh Howard and Antoine Walker yet. His chance of playing for any D-league teams at this stage is zero.
I expect the Rockets will cut 2 players from these 4 players. Garcia, Black, Canaan, Ish I don't think they will cut both Ish and Canaan, because that will leave us with No real backup PG at the moment, so at least one of them will stay. So if both Garcia and Black will stay, that means there will be trades involved and other players will be gone through trades.
You can't assume that one player will produce more than the other player just based on having more basketball experience in his career. EX: Jabari Parker might be a more productive player than Tayshaun Prince this year. Etc. etc. This is a very basic statement. If the choice is Dorsey vs. Black for the final roster spot, you go with the player that is going to give you more performance this year, and you don't make the assumption based on the fact that Dorsey is older & more experienced. The Rockets coaches and front office have a full month to make that judgement call. Whoever is going to be more productive, probably wins that battle. Both of those guys are the same size, and do the same thing defensively and are expected to do the same thing offensively. At this point, it looks to be unnecessary duplication to keep both if guys like Smith/Garcia etc. are needed in their roles. .......... However there is the case of the Dorsey contract guaranteed beyond this year. That could play a part but IMO if Black clearly establishes himself as the more productive backup big, than they should find a way to keep Black, and move Dorsey unless they feel they can do without another player like Garcia/Smith/Adrien etc.
This whole thread and ppl stressed about making cuts is exactly why the NBA needs to fast track the dleague to 30 teams and every player is protected. Us Rocket fans would just be talking about who's going to Vipers, the RGV fans would be upset to lose an end of bench player, in which us Rox fans would know he had no shot to ever come to Houston and we'd barely care.
Dorsey looks like he still hasn't adjusted to the time difference… Ish is quick, but everything else is meh...
Dorsey might look or have resemblance to Howard but that dude is the contrast. Borderline scrub. Guys like Adrien and Tarik are much more active and hungrier of making the team
Yea Ish isn't old like those guys. And he already played in the NBADL. Well if you want to get technical, Ish can go elsewhere professionally if he gets cut.
I would say that Black had a higher probability of making the squad than Adrien at this point if you want to keep Dorsey.
