Its VERY minor detail no one remembers, but on his free throws Shawn Kemp used to step over the line into the lane almost EVERY TIME after he released the shot. Which is a lane violation. Thats more the refs being too lax to call stuff more than Kemp "cheating", but on top of all the Sonics illegal defenses they failed to call it just added to the frustration of them getting away with crap
Actually it was his speed Hakeem would be on this third fake by time Mark was reacting to the 1st one Rocket River
http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/pgl.cgi?player=olajuha01&year=1989 I went to a completely random early Hakeem season (88-89), and sorted his game stats field goal % column from worst to best: 1. Utah (Mark Eaton) 2. Denver (Bill Hanzlick, Danny Schayes) 3. Seattle (well documented) 4. Dallas (Roy Tarpley, Sam Perkins) Man, you guys are good lol
I voted earlier in the day, but didn't post why, but it was Eaton. Dude was a stiff, but a really good one. I think Hakeem himself even said that Eaton was a tough matchup for him. I think everyone that has played basketball has that one person that for some reason, they just cannot guard. When i play ball with other clutchies, there is one guy out there that I just cannot check. He doesn't come play ball too much, luckily for me.
Ostertag bothered Dream late in his career. He was huge and could move a little bit. He seemed to get sky high to play Dream, some weird thing to validate his underachieving career.
Mark Eaton was a major problems sometimes for Hakeem because of his size. Hakeem would just destroy everyone else.
Illegal Ds, refs, and Mark Eaton's size(the guy would not take the fakes because he could not jump anyways).
It was frustrating to watch a 6'7 skinny white guy like Hanzlick causing so much trouble. I can't remember if he was guarding Hakeem or Sampson but in the few minutes he did, he made our big men either rushing and missing shots, turning the ball over or hitting him with elbow and getting called for offensive fouls quite a bit.
on the defensive end hakeem had a hard time with shaq, david robinson as well as far as i remember except of course in the 95 playoffs
