95% of TV sitcoms currently airing on network TV suck, including The BBT. I usually get the humor; it's just lame.
I've heard fans make the comment to people who don't particularly find the show funny that "well, it's smart humour, so not everyone gets it". Just because a joke references something of science, doesn't mean it's smart.
It's not surprising that 100% of the posters who come off as "*"s (Vonnegut reference) do not find it amusing.
You are saying it is humor for nice people? Nice people don't usually say negative things. In fact , if a coworker or friend told me to watch the show I might not make belittling comments. This is the internet though. Your opinion of a tv show will criticized. Just like you have attacked those who don't like the show.
Nope. I didn't attack the people who do not like the show, but the majority of the one's who posted were "*"s about it. I just found it ironic that most were "ACTING" like humorless "*"s about it. So I pointed out the correlation. Honestly, if your delineation of someone else's sense humor is the BBT or any other show, be my guest. But like you said, it is the internet. "*".
I find it a lot of the episodes funny, though some episodes fall flat. I suspect that many people who dislike it have watched one or two episodes and if those were bad ones ones I don't blame them for not watching more. I certainly don't purposely watch more than two episodes of a show if I don't like what I have seen by that point. Beyond that, people just have different senses of humor. I don't consider Two and a half men funny, but lots of people love it.
Really a bad show. Tried to watch with my girlfriend a few times and I didn't laugh once. And yes, I did get all the references.
I've tried many times but I just don't find it funny at all. I've chuckled at a few things but typically just change the channel after about 10 minutes.
More in line with TS's question. It would be interesting to see the profile of those who like/love/dislike and hate the show. I'm an ex-programmer with some geek tendencies. Love the show, but only watch it on reruns, I don't seek it out. While I agree that the IT Crowd was much funnier, that show is more gonzo humor while BBT is a little more realistic (except for the geeks with hot girlfriends). Kaley makes the show more watchable, so I'll forgive them that.
I love the show, I find it very funny. I definitely prefer BBT over 30 rock and parks & rec, and a lot of other shows, that a lot of people like it.
My buddy really likes it. I tried to watch it and to like it(engineering major) and one would think that it would appeal to me but I don't find it funny. I even watched a YouTube video with supposedly all the funniest clips from the show and I did not laugh. Or I just have no sense of humor.
Then it must be all you watch,because that show is always on. My wife likes it, but I feel like I'm watching the same episode over and over.
