I'll preface this by saying I didn't actually see the game...but from the look of the stats, it seems unfair to single out Wesley when most of the team really sucked last night: Derek Anderson: 4-14 David Wesley: 1-7 Jon Barry: 0-4 Stromile Swift: 2-8 Hell, even Yao: 8-22
it is true that the whole team did bad, but watching wesley play, he made some really CRAPPY decisions. he passed up open shots (which i dont know how crappy that decision is anymore) and then will drive it in only to lose the ball. when he does decide to shoot the open shot he would just brick or airball. it was just the worst piece of basketball playing ive seen for a while.
Wesley can play well enough to be in rotation in the regular season, but I'm not sure about the playoffs.
i'd have to agree with bringing in Dion Glover. watching wesley with the ball puts me on edge. like i know a brick or a TO is coming.
I think it is clear the majority of posters want more Head! He certainly cannot play any worse than DWes and he is younger, faster and plays with energy - probably a better fit with Rafer's game and tempo. DWes is probably slowing down the overall tempo of the offense. Now how do we get a message to Van Gundy?
Well now, this is one of those sad bandwagon threads. My understanding is that Wesley is still trying to get his shot back after injury...is that inaccurate? Suddenly a guard who was a pretty decent defender for us last year ... and was shooting 40% and 37% from 3-pt ... is total crap? I sure wish we could just have a team of all all-stars on the court and all all-stars on the bench...and they never have any injuries or bad streaks...so I don't have to read ridiculous threads like this one.
Anybody can suck anytime... It's JVG's job to use players not sucking up during games. The bottom line, JVG sucks!
No kidding. The Wesley trade last year totally changed this team's chemistry for the better. Obviously he's not 100% the cause, but he was indeed a factor no doubt. We are quick to forget this and quick to forget that his shooting is not the only reason we made the trade. I suspect his shot will come around and fans will once again love him (except for those who have always hated him because of who we traded to get him).
ok cohen and codell you guys know better to bring up facts and advocate patience in a thread like this. There aint nothing you can say that will redeem this thead.
Good point. But kindly stop bringing up things like vastly improved win/loss records when we're talking about shooting for the last few games. I'm surprised that no one in this thread has yet posted whether Wesley + Moochie + Howard + Bowen for KG would work per RealGM.
After the off season was spent in the most careful and deliberate reconstruction and additions ever to enhance the Rocket team, CD, JVG, and staff are rewarded with 'heads must roll' chants two games out of the blocks. Since Rockets fans are some of the most devoted we can forgive their persnickety advise as overzealous. I remember that a month or so ago this forum being lit up with the news Rafer Alton was coming in trade for Mike James so we could have a legitimate started at the PG position. Given the same result of a 1 - 1 record with James here and Wesley gone would we still have this thread? Definitely. The players are insignificant to fan expectation. Perhaps when McGrady gets back we won't loose another game this season and Wesley can calm his fears of becoming a headless horseman. God pity the player who has two off games on this team.
