Junior year of HS football, we're playing in the state semis. Other team (don't remember who, they were from Mesquite iirc) looked real good on film, coaches had told us we needed to bring our best.

Locker rooms shared a wall, after we've got our pads on & whatnot, before we headed out to warmups, what comes blaring from the other locker room? ****ing "Eye of the Tiger". Loud. They were crazy into it, beating lockers, singing, yelling, the works.

They kicked the living crap out of us.

    Beware the power of Rocky.

I'm getting more and more pumped. This is the ending Rocky deserved to have...not that abomination that was Rocky V.

i'd hate to be debbie downer, but i just got back from it expecting it to be good, and boy was it not. so stupid, so awful, and they managed to pack in as many cliches as they could. i was very disappointed, needless to say.

Went to go check it out today...very disappointing. Tarver was a horrible actor and the whole movie seemed pointless. It was really short just seemed like Stalone rushed this movie so he could get his name out there. It just didn't feel like ROCKY.

Clerks II got 63% and that was the biggest piles of **** I've seen. I don't trust critics...

    Rocky IV owns them all.

    James Brown+Drago= Cinematic excellence.

Last I checked, 75% of reviews were favorable on RottenTomatoes.com. I was surprised to see that. Apparently, these reviewers are coming away with that good feeling they used to get from watching the early movies...which Rocky V clearly lacked (unless you're an idiot).

Saw the early show today and I was blown away. It was basically everything I expected the movie to be, based on snippets I read about the story and reviews I've heard. This movie was everything Rocky V should have been but wasn't. It was a perfect bookend to a series that featured a larger-than-life character.

And I admit I got choked up at times, especially the reminiscing scenes. And while some of the lines may be considered a bit shmaltzy, Sly is a pretty damn good writer.

The film got back to basics and played like the first story; a definite good thing. My only few gripes, however, were
that I didn't care too much for the HBO PPV camera style at the beginning of the fight; it made me feel a little detached. The final round of the fight I felt was too rushed; he got hit, stumbled, dug down deep and kept going and then all of a sudden the final bell rings and he rushed out of the ring. And then Mason Dixon looked a little out of shape; I know they alluded to it in the film and I guess it would have been a little unrealisitc for him to be fighting another Drago or Mr. T, but ultimately I felt it made his comeback look a little less impressive. So all in all, while a good final fight, it lacked the epic-ness of the others; but then how can you possibly top those classic fights.

Anyways, it was a great movie and it's amazing, that after 16 years, this character and this story still resonates with people.

Clerks 2 was directed by uber-geek-hero Kevin Smith. It gets the geek vote en masse.

Saw it a couple nights ago.

This is the way it should have ended.

A couple of style points taken off for so many flashbacks and the CGI fight premise was just ridiculous.. but the underlying theme of the tormented former hero was great.

And Antonio Tarver impressed me.. for a career athlete he did an OK job!

Wasn't the ending great? The final bell rang and Rocky just walks out of the ring like he doesn't even care about the outcome, because getting through it and proving to himself that he could do it, even without the love of his life by his side, was the real victory.. totally perfect

Saw the movie last nite. I thought it was ok, a little slow at times. I was upset with the training scenes, I thought they could have done a much better job. The fight in the end however was the nuts.

I saw it the other day. I was really looking forward to some classic Rocky melodrama and was hella disappointed. Rocky had zero reason to fight, the thing with the woman went absolutely nowhere, the training scenes weren't inspiring, and the fight was a snooze. It wasn't an embarrassment... it was just boring.

Saw it yesterday. It's the fifth best Rocky movie of all time.

Saw it today. While it certainly wasn't the best Rocky, it held it's own, and still is a must see for any Rocky fan, although I doubt it will sway anyone who didn't like Rocky in the first place.

Hell, just to see Rocky fighting on the big screen once again is reason enough.

In honor of the Matrix movies, this should have been called "Rocky V - Rewritten."
