T.O. suspended for the rest of the season

I'm surprised no one has posted it. If it has, lock this thread up!

Tired of his sorry, pompous ass....

PHILADELPHIA -- Terrell Owens won't return to the Philadelphia Eagles this season, coach Andy Reid said Monday.

The outspoken star receiver was suspended for Sunday night's 17-10 loss at Washington, and will remain suspended for three more games. After that, the Eagles plan to deactivate Owens for the rest of the season.

"The league has been notified by the players' union that they will be grieving our right to take that action," Reid said, "therefore there is nothing more that I can say at this point."

Owens was suspended over the weekend following a tumultuous week in which he criticized the club, fought with a former teammate and took another verbal shot at quarterback Donovan McNabb.

"I do want it to be clear that this decision is a result of a large number of situations that accumulated over a long period of time," Reid said.

Owens "had been warned repeatedly about the consequences of his actions," Reid said. "We gave Terrell every opportunity to avoid this outcome."

Owens was suspended Saturday, two days after he said the Eagles showed "a lack of class" for not publicly recognizing his 100th career touchdown catch in a game on Oct. 23. In the same interview with ESPN.com on Thursday, Owens said the Eagles would be better off with Green Bay's Brett Favre at quarterback.

Owens was involved in a fight last week with former Eagles defensive end Hugh Douglas, who remains with the team as its "ambassador."

McNabb, who feuded with Owens throughout the summer and has been a constant target of his criticism, finally took a stand in the matter, saying the Eagles might be "better off" without Owens.

"Obviously it is tough losing a guy of his caliber, his ability, but I think we might be better off," McNabb said after throwing an interception that sealed the loss to Washington. "I think what we did tonight, we showed that we played well together. I think we also showed that when given the opportunity, guys can make plays for us. We're 4-4. We're not 1-7. I think that's the way to look at it. For the guys in the locker room, we win together and we lose together."

Tom Jackson said yesterday that Owens needed to be on medication. I was a little shocked that he was able to say that on TV, but sadly it is the truth.

It was sorta sad to see my former Cane Michael Irvin trying to defend that chump Owens.

What Owens has done isn't really all that bad. It's actually good for business. BUT it is a distraction for the team. And that's because the media wants it to be. He deserves to be suspebded tho' because he let it continue to be a distraction. He could have stopped all the nonsense. The irony of the whole thing is that he will lose millions because of the behavior. His whole reason for acting up is now the whole reason he won't get anything. At some point you cut your losses and move on. BUT he keeps digging a deeper and deeper hole. It makes no sense.

Billy Volek, Hines Ward, and Westbrook all had similar situations, and each realized when they had crossed the line. They backed their ass right up and they'll get paid eventually because they did that. T.O is an ass clown .

As much of an a-hole he is, there are guys that have done much worse...Will he be gone next year, definitely, is he a cancer, absolutely, but there will still be teams that want him...

The guy has the attitude of me against the world and he lost this round...I see him getting suspended the rest of the year, ala KJ...

I'm glad he is gone. Hopefully only some sucky team will pick him up next year and he fades into oblivion.

Whatever happened to just shutting the f**k up and playing ball? Always gotta be talking to some reporter somewhere. If you know your going to say stupid crap all the time, then why put yourself in those situations? The problem is...he doesn't know. He's just so passionate he can't control himself. It's like sending a caffeine-spiked school child out in the hall for a paddling. Just play the freaking game! That is what you have to put above all the other bs...or you were never anybody worth remembering...at all. Nobody like's a loose cog. Since you don't appear to care about team unity, then you must not really care about winning. What do you care about...besides mouthing off? Weasel.

You do know that Irvin started this mess, right? He is the one who said the Eagles would be better with Favre, etc which prompted ESPN to ask TO to do that interview, which led to you know what.

Yes and I think that is why Irvin was defending him - he felt responsible for getting him in trouble. But the last time I checked, Owens was an adult and could handle things for himself or at least you would think that.

But I agree with Pun - I am getting tired of ANYONE defending this sack of ****.
