There is no question Battier is a great defender. He's been slow coming back from injury. I'm not worried about any long term effects, but I am worried about the Cavs game. McGrady especially has looked sluggish on back to backs.
When McGrady moves, he often looks like a baby deer. His legs look all wobbly as if they are about to fall out from underneath him. His flat-footedness reminds me of a duck. And it's been this way for about 3 seasons now. I don't understand how people still consider him a relatively athletic player, especially compared to other SGs. I think his strengths now are his bball IQ, court vision and ability to shoot over people because of his length. He also gives you a few solid defensive efforts each game. Of course, he leaves his man about 20 other times.
Don't worry. We have our Spalding-imprinted-on-his-forehead-from-being-dunked-on softy as our backstop. But don't worry, his slowness makes up for his lack of toughness.
I think you and I appreciate similar humor. Unfortunately, a lot of others perceive it as "hate." The way I see it, it's a way to deal with the weaknesses of our favorite team.
It's all relative. Nobody can shut him down but different teams and players slow him down to different extents. The way Battier, Artest and McGrady have looked recently, I think we will be at the wrong end of the spectrum in terms of "slowing him down."
I still don't get why people think this team will just win if T-mac sits out. I mean hell we are struggling beating bad teams when he does play. If he can play let him play.
Any of you that think we can't stop LeBron are idiots. We have stopped him numerous times, and Yes, I know he's better now. But, we can still stop him with Battier and Yao. Yao actually rejected him and basically posterized him with his block in one of the games. LeBron in his career has only had 2 wins against the Rockets, probably the lowest of any other team he has played. We always do a good job on LeBron, and now we have Artest as an extra defender on him. I can't believe some of you people are still riding that jock of LeBron. He sucks.
Every coach that has ever had Battier on their team loves them, other team's coaches love him. You know why? Because he contributes to winning, he plays his role, and makes the team better. People who say otherwise have no clue about the game of basketball. DD
I think the Nets game is the priority for now. The cavs game is just another regular season game, like the Nets game. That being said, LBJ usually doesn't have A games against the rockets.
I almost agree all your points until I read "He sucks". LBJ does not suck, instead he is argurably the best player of the league, but it seems the rockets have answer for him always.
I'd like to see the demand for Battier and his 3-year/rougly $7 million per contract if the Rockets wanted to move him. Something tells me he wouldn't generate a lot of interest.
I can't believe they traded him away either, but, remember this is the same bunch that let Nash walk and become a two time MVP.
I agree but I still think few other teams would value him as a defensive specialist enough to pay even that reasonable sum.
Mavs will go after Devin Harris when he is old and out of his prime and overpriced. They will most likely give up their best young potential point gaurd in the process again.
