I know its weak but lets just say the timberwolves end up with the 2nd or 3rd pick and cant draft kyrie irving why would they draft derrick williams if he is a clone of michael beasly and why would they draft kanter if he is a post up player like kevin love? martin would be a good upgrade for them at the 2. I would be happy if we could draft kanter or williams, im dreaming i know.

...maybe not but the fact is the wolves lack veterans i could see him taking on martin if morey plays the "efficiency card" right.

Sadly, there is now not a single player in this draft who I like more than Kevin Martin (i.e., no sure-fire upgrade, talent-wise). Pass on trading him.

I like Kyrie better but not as a replacement for Lowry. You'd have to get equivalent value back at the SG position to make up for essentially trading away Martin and Lowry, and that just ain't gonna happen.

Kyrie Irving, Enes Kanter, Derrick Williams, Jonas Valanciunas, Bismack Biyombo

I would trade Martin in a heartbeat for any of these players. We need to sell Martin while his value is still high now, before next season when he'll be 29 and less productive in a different system.

Personally I would target Enes Kanter for Kevin Martin, and then try to package all of our picks to see if we can move up and try to snatch Biyombo or Valanciunas; if neither is available we could draft one of the high ceiling SF either it be Terrence Jones or Jan Vesely.

    BISMACK BIYOMBO??? Really???

Yeah, the kid has nice potential. But the comparisons he is getting (another Serge Ibaka) don't strike me as warranting a label as an UPGRADE to Kevin Martin. Hell, Serge Ibaka himself isn't an upgrade to Kevin Martin.

Kyrie and Enes, I can understand at least. But please try to contain your enthusiasm over a guy (Biyombo) who has basically come out of nowhere and is getting a lot of buzz right now.

Only one player in this draft I would trade Martin for.

The grass is always greener on the other side...

To echo Bima's thoughts, the only person I'd want to deal Kevin Martin for (talent wise) would be Kyrie Irving. However, with Lowry's progression, I'm not sure that would even be the smartest move.

Kanter and Williams are great prospects, but I just don't see them having a career as good as Kevin Martins. Biyombo should be no where in the discussion and we certainly don't know enough about the other international big men to deal our best player for them.

I would have to seriously consider it for Enes Kanter or Bismack Biyombo. I know you are not impressed with Bismack but the Rockets have a good record drafting ubber athletic african players that come into the league with limited offense. And having a great center is the hardest order to fill.

While I am not sure I agree with trading Martin, I love the thought of making a deal with the Wolves. That is absolutely the kind of deal that the Wolves need to look at.

If they can Rubio and Martin to the squad next year they could be very dangerous.

How about Dragic or Courtney Lee?

They scored enough points last year. More ppg the. Half the playoff teams. But they gave up more ppg than every other team in the league. Does Martin and Rubio make them better? Of course. On paper starting to look lime some talent there. But they still wouldn't be good.

That said I wouldn't be completely opposed to the idea. It is getting harder and harder to see Martin or Scola being key members of the squad if and when it gets back to championship form. With a healthy Yao and Rick at the helm, different story, but with the current direction, if you could lose those contracts and pick up a top 3 pick, even in a weak draft, knowing you may strike out, might be worth the gamble.

I hate to say it, but I agree. Scola and Kmart are absolutely trade bait If Morey can find replaceable, younger talents...

Bismack Biyombo would be really nice. I also wouldn't mind Terrence Jones. I'm not sure how good Kanter is defensively, but if we trade up we need to at least consider him...

The only thing I can say about that is that the hardest position to fill is a dominant center. Look at who the Rockets have had at two guard in the last decade vs. who they have had at center.

Shooting Guards have been Cutino Mobley, Tracy McGrady and Kevin Martin. A team could win a championship with any of those guys manning your 2 guard spot. One was acquired with a second round pick, one via trade mega trade and the other via trading a player drafted in the second round.

Our Centers have been Kelvin Cato, Yao Ming and Chuck Hayes. No way you win a championship with two of these players starting and Yao has not been able to stay healthy. It took a number 1 pick in the draft to acquire Yao.

Teams just don't typically let go of quality centers. We could not even pry a seldom used center from the Bulls for a stud defensive minded 2 guard who is not a liability on offense.

I don't want to lose Kevin Martin but for a chance to get a center that I believe can be a dominant presence on the defensive end for the next 2 decades then I make that trade 7 days a week and before the other team can change their minds.
