I wonder if we somehow get the 12th and 15 th pick by a miracle...if we can get the valannciuas guy and the someone like monteajus or jan vesley So you get two high upside big men...increase the chances one works out? Half the draft analysis sites have Jonas Valanciunas as top 3 and ernes kanter as top then and half have it the other way around.... with dontas montejaus always in the middle....thats weird. After doing some research I think ernes kanter would be the best bet for is...may trade both our 1st picks and twill to move up to the top 3? Or is that too much? I think we HAVE to get a high end center under all circumstances.
Ha. Let's agree to disagree. I'd say that Russillo is actually one of the more knowledgeable ESPN guys, because he's one of the few guys who watches a lot of NBA games on a regular basis. Does he talk nonsense at times? Yes. Is he right about everything? Of course not. But for the most part he knows what he's talking about. That said, I find myself disagreeing with him quite a bit when it comes to draft prospects, which is no suprise, since he spends most of his time watching the NBA. In the podcast I posted it's mainly Chad Ford talking however and Ford knows his draft stuff pretty well, so it doesn't really matter how much or little Russillo knows.
Terrence currently has no trade value. Plus moving up isn't going to be that easy, we're going to have to give up something of value and probably take in some bad contracts. The only team that's willing to move down will probably be the Minnesota Timberwolves. Who already have young players at each position(Rubio PG, Beasley SF, Love PF) that the top players in this draft would play. IMO, If we're going to move up, in a Minny trade, we're going to have to give up Kevin Martin. I mean, we already have two talented and much cheaper SG ready to take his spot in Courtney Lee and Terrence Williams. So it wouldn't be to much of a down grade, with both still developing and getting better. From Minny's perspective, (according to there GM) they're ready to start competing, but still have two gaping whole's to fill at SG and Center. With both position's needing veterans to fill them, given that they're looking to compete. There's going to be plenty of good quality veteran center's in free agency, but no high end SG available. There's also no SG they can take that high in the draft to fill that need. Which is why I think this proposed deal makes sense, both ways.. This may be the year I think Morey will try to move up a few picks. For one thing if the perception is that the draft is a weak one, then that should lower the premium on moving up say 5 picks from 13 to 8 to get someone who has fallen off. For another, this may be a great draft to pick up rookies with superstar potential that have hurt their stocks by having hitches in their performance in the past year. The guys I'm looking at are Enes Kanter (who would absolutely have put Kentucky in the running for a 1 seed this year had he played) and Harrison Barnes, the former Rivals #1 (before they gaffed and put Selby up there to end the year) who basically sucked bad the first half of the year and has just started picking it up in the past couple months, scoring 40 points last week in an overtime win against Clemson. In my eyes, if either of those two fall to 7 or 8, then Morey may be one to try to pounce on them while only sacrificing maybe a couple of our other picks to move up (from a hypothesized 13). It's probably unrealistic for guys like Perry Jones or Kyrie Irving to fall, and you'd really have to sell the house to move up into the top 3 of any draft.
Brendan Connolly from Princeton (6-10) could be a good 2nd round pickup if he declares -- has size, lateral movement, IQ. He reminds me of an athletic Aldrich.
Please, no second round centers unless we can stash them overseas. The end of the bench is crowded enough with big man prospects.
My guess is that the Rocket get E'Twaun Moore in the second round. The guy has no "upside" so I think other teams will skip over him. He is just a small 6'4 senior that moves without the ball on offense, battles on defense despite size, and grabs boards like a small forward. Nothing special.
I want a Lamar Odom type of SF/PF hybrid. He is an absolute matchup nightmare: too quick for PFs, too big for SFs. I think he is just so important to the Lakers as he gives them the rebounding edge at any time by going big with him at SF. I want that. With that said, I support Jan Vesley and Donatas Motiejunas for our midlevel pick. Being able to throw size out there night after night is such a huge advantage.

Kemba Walker These are guys I've watched, didn't little any euro guys I don't have to much knowledge on. I'm really not all that high on Sullinger or Derrick Williams because of there size and because there PF.
Why do people want Perry Jones? I can see that he has freakish athleticism and high upside, but if he is that good, why didn't he lead his team to the tournament? Probably not a good judge of talent basing it on making the NCAA tourny but that's just my opinion.
He's just a freshman; people are in love with his potential. As soon as he gets drafted, he probably immediately becomes one of the most athletic PFs in the league. LaMarcus Aldridge wasn't that great his rookie year, but he's consistently improved his game each year and is now one of the stud PFs. I'm hopeful that Jones could develop similarly.
I'm big on Chris Singleton, 6'9'' 230 lb. small forward out of FSU. He's primarily recognized for his defensive tenacity, but he's also a very viable offensive weapon. He had a triple-double at the beginning of the season -- 22 pts, 11 boards, 10 steals, plus 6 dimes in a 24-pt win. 2 nights later, he racked up 30 and 12 in another double-digit win. He's the kind of guy that could make his name as a LeBron/Melo stopper, but also consistently knock down the spot-up 3 and even bang in the paint.
