Please don't buy the Riddler/Depp and Catwoman/Cher stories. There is literally nothing happening with Batman 3 right now. The only significant thing is that David Goyer, the writer of Begins and Nolan's collaborater on the story for TDK has said he's got an idea for the third movie. He's also said there are other villains in the Batman universe who haven't been used and that they might go in that direction, for example: Hush/Thomas Elliot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hush_(comics)#Origin
I understood that, they still had a high profile minority as a villian in the movie. You don't know about the switch until the very end of the movie.
The Dark Knight was completed in Nov. 2007. It's almost been a year, I'm sure they've got more than just an "idea" by now for their huge franchise. I remember after Batman Begins was completed they soon rumored Jude Law as the Joker, but it turned out to be false. I'm sure these rumors are more than likely false also, but its fun to imagine what could happen. But you're right I see the villain of the third film knowing that Bruce Wayne is Batman as a huge part of the plot. I suspect the 3rd film will take place a few years later. Since Rachel Dawes passing, Bruce will also need a new love interest in the film. I think a younger actress will play Catwoman, since she's always been his underlying attraction. If not her, maybe Poison Ivy would make more sense, she could be a botanist working in a lab that sparks Bruce's interest. They could make her more realistic. Her split personality against Bruce due to Wayne Enterprises destroying natural habitats she cherishes like in the comic books.
how about not seeing a comic-bookish movie..? once again.. hero: a billionare who invests a good part of his wealth.. into gadgetry to aid his vigilante double life... where he dresses up as a bat and patrols on top of roof tops..
Because Batman is a little bit of a psycho. There isn't much comic booky about the series besides him and Joker. I don't think they'd use somebody like Hush since it has so much to do with his past, seems counter productive to the progress of Bruce Wayne
They finished FILMING in Nov 2007. The movie wasn't done. After filming comes post production (special FX , music, sound fx, sound mixing, and editing), they probably weren't 100% finished til like 2 or 3 months before the movie came out in July. http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_15021.html It took a few months just for them to start talking about the next movie and then Chris Nolan went off to shoot a whole other movie. Heath Ledger wasn't cast until a year after Begins came out. All this talk is premature nonsense. People can speculate and throw out their own ideas all they want, but that story about Cher and the one about Depp are total BS and shouldn't be perpetuated. I'll give you guys some very plausible scenarios explaining these stories. For example, the Depp thing is probably some suits who work for Warner Bros. shooting the s**t about what they'd like to see. A waiter or a valet overhears them and tips off somebody in the media and calls it a legit casting rumor. The Cher thing is probably an example of Cher or her publicist "leaking" a false rumor just to get her name in the trades and build some attention for something else she's doing or making it seem like she is in demand.
Re: Batman and making it all work: I have full confidence in Chris Nolen. And I mean full confidence. I am fully convinced that he can take virtually any character, no matter how obscure and/or 'comic book-y' and make it really work. Jim Carrey's performance as the Riddler was, to me, one of the few bright spots in Batman Forever. It worked because his Riddler was over the top in a movie series that was already over the top. Carrey's Riddler wouldn't work in this incarnation of Batman because it is meant to be as serious and 'real' as possible. Any and all of the characters can be as serious or as silly as you want them to be. Its up to a talented director and talented actors to make the characters what they need to be for a given setting. I can't wait for the third installment.
The only thing credible that has come out in the past few weeks regarding Batman is that Warner Bros did extend a deal to Nolan...that's it. If and when Nolan agrees to do a third installment, I'd say the earliest you can expect any movement on it is late next year, considering he's most likely going to do another film before he returns to Batman, much like what happened between Begins and Dark Knight. And while I'll say I trust Nolan...I also trusted Sam Raimi and look what happened with Spidey 3...then again Spidey 2 was never considered a dark-horse Oscar contender.
Yeah, I get your point. I just don't want it to go in the same direction as the previous Batman films, ya know? It started out cool, and, gradually.. it got crappier and crappier and sillier and sillier until it was just awful. I just don't want that to happen to this series of films.
yes.. but that's not going to happen just by the mere inclusion of characters such as the riddler and catwoman... that'll happen either by bad directing.. bad writing.. and/or bad acting..
and once you accept the fact that these movies are about, and revolve around, "him".. and characters like the Joker.. you'll realize this is infact.. a "comic booky" series..
No, that's too dismissive for me really. This series plays up the dynamic between real world and these comic characters a lot, I wouldn't like it as much if it didn't to be honest
