That could be achieved with Clayface by ditching this: for something like this instead: Above picture is from "From Beyond". The Clayface doesn't even have to be monster. Maybe have him/her closer to the face dancers from Dune.
The only way I see turning the Riddler more serious would be to turn batman 3 into more of a detective story. Something like seven.
No one's mentioned Killer Croc! He was Bane before bane was. With the Killing Joke being the model, the other truly great Graphic Novel was The Cult. It was a four book series that was pretty twisted. It fit Nolan's theme's pretty well also.
the same reason why people pay $10 + date + popcorn + drink + parking + gas to the movie theater to watch a movie as opposed to watching it at home on DVD. it's a communal experience. part of watching the movie is being there with other people and seeing/hearing their reactions. people clapping at the end is simply and extension of that. if you hate clapping, be glad driveins are a thing of the past. people be honking and drunk and all hell breaking loose after movies... I swear one time when i was a kid, you could hear pop pop pop like bubba was popping off rounds to the end of superman 2 as for OP. it's going to be the riddler. perhaps catwoman as a tertiary character . it's too bad though, there's strong signals that Nolan was planning to use Joker again in the 3rd movie. Not as a primary villain but as a foil for the primary villain in the 3rd movie. Not exactly like he used Scarecrow which was more like a continuity device and cameo but more like he used the legacy of Falcone from BB. Falcone's influence (or lack of) is a strong underlying element of TDK. In the first movie Batman was fighting an organized element he could systematically dismantle... in the 2nd movie it shows the chaos and escalation that Falcone's absence (due to Batman) could create. Would Joker have been able to cut a deal with Falcone like he did with Sal Maroni-- a pale imitation who's neither as smart or as ruthless. Would the other thugs have been willing to cut a deal with the Joker if Falcone still had an iron grip on the city? A lot of what Joker is able to do wouldn't have been possible without Maroni's complicity So Joker wouldn't have necessarily gotten a lot of screen time but the aftereffects of the Joker would be felt on screen. If he'd cast a bigger name for Mystery (mr reese) it would make sense, due to how much impact he had on the plans and maybe the psyche of that character but obviously that dude isn't going to be the riddler. Whatever he was planning is obviously going to change now that heath is dead and also probably going to change becuase TDK blew up like it did... whatever limitations nolan had from the studio are going to be gone, he can do anything he wants
LOL I know. Guy in that pic looks like Cable though. Don't remind Fox about Cable or they'll make a movie.
I have not seen Batman Begins ... just now read the Batman Begins synopsis at IMDB ... holy sh** batman, they sure made some rad changes to the Ra's al Ghul story arc.
