You try to preserve exciting young talent and also try to move the tail enders and older player either past their prime or of little talent. first you trade Armstrong, Anderson, Jefferies,Battier,Harris, Chuck,Taylor,Scola,Lowery, Ariza,Brooks, then Buddinger and Hill, Martin then Yao.
When Ariza plays with a fit Yao Ming he will have the chance to show his real colors. At present it is difficult to make up ones mind about Trevor
Big men with the size, footwork and potential of Jordan Hill are hard to come by so I would say Chase.
More good big men are available in this year's draft than good wings. Add that to the fact that Hill has more trade value at this point due to all the reasons posters have been mentioning so far as to why they would keep him + his being picked 8th in last year's draft, and I would keep Budinger and trade Hill if someone is really going to give us good value in return.
Taylor is up and coming, we already have our replacement for Bud. Plenty of other capable wings in free agency as well. Trading Hill depends on who is coming back here. If we're trading him to move up in the draft then the only way I would trade him + pick would be if it means Favors or Cousins.
Here's a question (I don't want to start a thread): How does Hill compare to Eddie Griffin after one year?
No i'm not a scout. I'm just giving my opinion for what it's worth. My opinion is not gospel. I know there are things you can teach and things you can't. I feel that of all the nba skill sets that can be taught, Chase is already pretty good at. Chase can't be taught Aaron Brooks' quickness, he can't be taught Ariza's long arms, he can't be taught Jordan Hill's leaping ability and hieghth. His shooting has room to improve because that can be taught. His defensive positioning has room to improve because that can be taught. His passing can improve because that can be taught. but he is already solid in those areas. That's all I'm saying. It is a decent comparison to Chuck because Chuck can't be taught to be 7', he can't be taught to block shots, and he can't be taught to shoot the 3. He is what he is and has gotten the most out of what he is.
Yeah, but what'll you have when Bosh gets here? Martin....and who else? LOL. If you end up giving the entire farm to get Bosh and end up with a big 3 of Bosh, Yao and Martin, then obviously your window hasn't increased at all, its still 3 years, and you just ended up giving away a lot of talent in the process.
We wouldnt have to give up the farm to get Bosh. We would of at the deadline, but not in a sign and trade.
easy, you trade cbud as we already good players ahead of him at his position including a player who was an integral part of a championship team last year and an elite perimter defender, team player in shane. I really don't think the lakers win it all last year without ariza. Next year when ariza goes to being the 3rd option on the perimter and 5th option in the starting line up he should really shine. I mean it's nice and cute for bud to put up these numbers in these meaningless games but come on he will not break any trade for a proven player. And after taking on jeffries horible contract I doubt the rockets trade the only for sure lottery pick they got out of that situation which is hill. His size and athleticism is really needed. Buds scoring wil not be needed so much next year, neither will his defensive short comings.
I would keep the guy shooting 44% over the guy shooting 38% even if the 38percenter has a ring, Jack Haley style. I really think it is laughable that people bring up Trevors ring, he was a 20mpg player, ....on that team, and he got hot in some of the playoff series. The Lakers liked him so much they let him go.... DD
Did you see him in the playoffs? You can say all you want but He's proven himself in the CF/ Finals. No other Rocket has since 95. FACT. They Lakers liked him so much the onlyy player worth letting him go for was a cheap Ron Artest. It speaks volumes. You volume speak.
I know you're not comparing trevor contributions to jack haley are you? I like chase and hill, but neither would be deal breakers. If i can get better with nba players i would, not with college players. If bosh wanted to come here and they started with chase and hill, i would trade both. Naturally, i would want to trade the older guys like battier first though.
I am comparing Trevor in that he rode Kobe and Pau's coatails to a ring. No way is he anything more than a marginal starter in the NBA. In fact, he started only 20 games last year for the Lakers. Trevor is vastly overated, anyone that has his combination of poor fundamentals & bad shooting is lucky to be in the league. DD
Uhhh, the Lakers paid the same thing for RON, that they would have paid for Trevor, sorry to melt your myopic brain. They wanted Ron, they LET Trevor go, you know why? Becuase they knew that he was not all that great in the first place. And I have to speak in volume with all the teeny boppers like yourself clouding up quality basketball discussion with your "Oh he can dunk" ness. Let me spell it out for ya.....Chase > Trevor. DD
