3rd rookie team? There are many rookies who played better than CBud this season. E.g., Evans, Curry, Collison, Jennings, Harden, DeRozan, Flynn, Gibson, Holiday, ...
I should have said Budinger is eaier to replace than Hill. TMac was pretty good coming off a screen when the Rockets first got him. The Rockets have been horrible at finding wings...crap, the Rockets have been horrible at finding role players for a long time outside of recently and during the championship years. Recently, the Rockets have been very good at finding and developing players. While it may be dificult to find another player like Budinger, but maybe next time Morey would find a guy that is always on the FT line. I do not want to trade Budinger. I want to trade up in draft. I want to see a high draft pick, Brooks, Martin, Hill, Budinger, Lowry, Taylor, and Ariza as building blocks for the future. You may not like Ariza, but he is good enough to be in a rotation and should be better with better players.
DD will never back down from his outlandish statements. Don't get me wrong, Chase is great but in no draft would he be a top 5 pick regardless of if teams knew how well he plays.
You got that right! Sincerely, Kenyon Martin, Stromile Swift, Darius Miles, Marcus Fizer, and Mike Miller
oh, I thought you were talking about players DD had an eye for. that draft was pure garbage wasn't it.
GMs are paid to know this stuff. You're not going to have a GM say, "Oh, they traded Landry? Really?"
You really think he's in the top 5 from last years draft? Reaaaally? Top 10, maybe, but top 5? I'd take Evans, Jennings, Collison, Curry, and Griffin over Budinger to start. If you wouldn't, you're insane. Then you have the next tier: Beaubois, Lawson, Gibson, Casspi, Holiday, Flynn, Budinger. Would Budinger be a top 5 in this coming draft? Who knows? You realistically can't give him a 1 year in the NBA advantage over all the incoming rookies. That's just silly.
Yeah it was. I think DD was just a decade behind when he made the top 5 comment. Not that I don't like Budinger...I just don't see him as top 5 from 2009 or 2010 drafts. 2011 looks weak, but you never know with HS players showing their stuff in college by then.
I would imagine everyone on the roster is open to be traded after missing the playoffs. The other end to these questions is always for what? Is it just to get a expiring contract or draft picks or is it a piece for a larger trade?
CBud in top 5? I wouldn't agree, but I think he's better than a #10 pick; maybe #8. Problem is, when you make that pick, you don't know how they'll turn out. CBud is much less of an unknown quantity than someone you just selected. So, I think we could swap him for, maybe, a #8. Back to the original question: they both have, hopefully, a lot of potential that is as yet unrealized. CBud is further along than Hill, partly because the Rockets don't have a coach who is too stupid to let him play. Still, I'd rather have Hill. We'll know much better in another year and a half. And, it depends on whom we're getting with our pick, plus any FA signing. If we're getting Bosh and Hassan Whiteside, I'd rather have CBud.
Shooting .525 from the field Junior. I would take Curry, Griffin, & Evans, but you could argue Chase is at least on par with the rest. The very fact that some consider him top 10 even is amazing in that we got him at 44....... I personally think he has all star talent, and abilities, he just needs to believe it himself, which comes with playing time. Once he gets totally comfortable you will see more of his game, post ups (like the one he did against Pierce) and much more driving. The combination of shot making, athleticism, and smarts is not that common. Chase will have a GREAT NBA career. DD DD
Neither, period. No telling what the ceiling is for either of these Wildcats. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
http://www.82games.com/barzilai1.htm This is a good source to see what type of players generally go where. People always remember the top picks, but median picks are better for value comparison.
Wow DD. Your sentimental love for players sometimes clouds your judgement! Would you trade CBud for Wafer? Didn't mean to go there but just trying to put things into perspective. CBud would get drafted late first round. He is a "solid" NBA player and belongs in the league. I think he is one of the rare rookies that peaked early. He is good right now, but i don't see much room for improvement. He shoots about 36% from 3 which is extremely respectable for a small forward, but by no means lights out. Shane shoots about 36% too. Chase just looks like a better shooter and is a better shooter in our minds because every time he shoots we expect it to go in. On the other extreme Trevor appears to be a worse shooter than say kyle Lowry because every time he shoots we all cringe. I think Chase is producing 90% of all he will ever produce in this league. He is another Brent Barry. An atheletic white guy who can shoot (sometimes). Extremely solid, but by no means an all star and no mean irreplacable. That said, I'm not at all opposed to him retiring a Rocket.
So basically your POV is that it is better to ensure mediocrity than to have a chance at either greatness, mediocrity, or suckage. I would prefer not to trade Budinger or Hill, but if a better player is available..you do it. You don't trade to trade. You don't have to have a trade that is a landslide in your favor...just a trade that will benefit you.
There is no need discussing this with you, if you believe a guy has reached 90% of his abilities in his rookie year. Unreal. DD
