Both Budinger and Hill are NBA players, rotational players, and both have unique skill sets. Budinger is extremely athletic with a super sweet jump shot, and the ability to play the game and find openings. - he is a long time NBA player, you keep those. Hill is uber quick for a big man.....there are not many big guys that have his speed and quickness......you get him in the gym with CD and you train him up. Keep them both....they are building blocks...... However, if you can get Blake Griffin it becomes an entirely different question... DD
These are the only players that should be traded if needed to complete a trade. I wonder if the Spurs would take any for Manu.
DD, If those are the first players you want to get rid of, what makes you think other teams are salivating to get them? Do we say, you can't have C-Bud or Hill but you can have Shane or Ariza and like it?
Yao = building block well at least if he was healthy. You don't build around role players. Look at the spurs they get just get pieces to plug around duncan.
Not enough information. I agree with trying to trade all several other players first, as well as draft picks. I really don't want to trade either. Bud is very well rounded and could be a solid started for years. Hill is a little more of a question mark, but that guy has serious energy and if he can improve his fundamentals...wow.
Fine, then you don't make a trade......that is the point...this team is RIGHT there with Yao and a training camp under their belts. Imagine Hill with a summer working with CD, and Budinger working on his dribbling and defense. Then imagine this team going forward with a free agent signing like Camby. Then add in a lottery draft pick.....come on !!!! That would be a championship team right there. DD
That would be incredibly stupid unless they are guaranteed Turner or Wall. If Cbud was in this year's draft after seeing him perform in the NBA he would be top 5....... DD
If they're being traded for a PF-type, let Hill go. If they're being traded for a SG/SF type, let Budinger go. Your hypothetical leaves much to be desired. You could have rephrased the poll question to be "Who do you like more?"
LOL - you don't think if they held the draft over, or that he was in this years draft KNOWING what he did in the NBA that he would be top 5? Ok, difference of opinion I guess, but I would think that NBA GM's put an emphasis on what players can do IN THE LEAGUE over maybes and hopefuls. Chase Budinger has had a GREAT first year, and when given more playing time has gotten even more effective. The Rookie wall has not effected him, he continues to improve his shooting percentages, his defense and his confidence. Sorry, I think he is our best offensive SF right now and will be the best overall SF by the middle of next year. That is not someone you trade, that is someone you covet. Don't worry, he will put Trevor on the bench where he belongs soon enough. Probably, thought not sure where. DD
I would have a hard time getting rid of Hill. He looks like he will be hard to replace. Budinger is nice, but he is easier to replace than Hill. I don't consider trading Battier, Ariza, Jeffries, Armstrong, and Andersen as trading someone, but more along the line as matching salary or forcing the other team to take them. Their contracts are not assets. Taylor is intriguing to me. He isn't as developed as Budinger, but he does have the ability to create for himself even if he needs to work on that some more. I could see using his contract as a trade asset as well. I am more for trading to move up in draft than I am for trying to wait on a sign and trade situation which may or may not happen. I wouldn't want to trade Budinger unless we were getting Turner or W. Johnson. I wouldn't want Hill included unless it was make or break deal that is in Rockets favor. The assets I see that may be useful* in trade up are Rockets 2010, Knicks/Rockets 2011 pick, Knicks 2012, Rockets 2012, Sergio Llull, Jermaine Taylor, and Chase Budinger. *Useful=Value>Contract and Contract<million dollars. Brooks and Hill would be useful if you included Contracs< 3 million.
Nice post overall, but I don't understand people who say Cbud is easy to replace. We have not had a guy as good as him at coming off screens and playing off the ball in decades. And now we have two in Martin and Cbud.....and honestly, Cbud is a better shooter..... I don't think that is easily replaced, there are only so many Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton's in the league.... Those guys are pure money....Chase is like that, and is more athletic too....he is going to have a great career. DD
Fantasy land. Prospect big men wouldn't be drafted in the first round then He's a role player and top 5 draft picks aren't drafted to become roleplayers He hit the rookie wall for a month or so. He also missed games because of the ankle Just admit you overreacted when you said top 5.
Top 5. No way. Others have produced more. He would have been taken much higher than he was, but not top 5. Big men are tougher to get so I have Hill higher than Budinger right now not to mention Evans, Blair, Harden, Jennings, and Curry to name the easy ones over Budinger. This year, Wall, Turner, Favor, Cousins, W Johnson, and Udoh would be easily taken in front of him.
