I agree. I'm sooo tired of ALL these guys hiding behind the union when it comes to drug-testing. Like they don't have a freakin' mind of their own! You guys condemn yourselves with your silence!
Sosa probably isn't, its hard to be consistant while using steroids, look at McGwire or Caminiti for example. I think the #1 candidate Bret Boone, starting last year. Look at how his power numbers suddenly dropped off. That's the signs of a steroid user, in both cases (McGwire/Caminiti) thier power numbers dropped off (especially in McGwire's case). Boone, although not as significant, has had the same results.
I don't think we should assume that any players are juicing up until they are tested. I'm not going to listen to some crack addict. What people don't seem to be getting is that baseball is now a full-time job. Instead of taking other jobs in the offseason like they did not too long ago, most, if not all players spend the offseason lifting weights and working out. I do think that there are players on steriods, but all players as a whole shouldn't be condemned until we have proof. And yes, I know it's the players' fault that they don't have testing right now, but I don't think it's fair to criticize players who don't speak out against other players.
Omar Vizquel has gained 20 pounds since last year, and has hit 13 home runs this year. He is my candidate for most obvious juicer.
We're not talking about criticizing (at least I'm not), just taking their accomplishments with a grain of salt because there's doubt as to whether or not they're legitimate.
But we can't prove it 'cause they don't allow testing...... If they don't want to be tested, we can assume whatever we want.
That's basically my biggest problem with this issue. I know it's probably NOT fair to label a majority of players as "juicers" but until the majority of the "non-juicers" speak up and push through some kind of drug testing, they'll all be under suspicion. I'm just basically TIRED of the players hiding behind the union's "company line" on this issue.
The problem is that when one of these guys offers to be the first to be tested, he backs off and throws around F bombs when offered a test. Why shouldn't we be skeptical? When in a position where this kind of thing is rampant you will be under suspicion until you take yourself out of suspicion.
Sosa said that if they approved testing, he'd be the first to be tested. He didn't say "set me up during an interview." I have no problem with players refusing to be tested if that's what their union says. It'll speak for itself if they institute testing, and certain players don't hit HRs like they used to.
AND it'll speak for itself if they don't institute testing with this next collective-bargaining agreement. It'll be interesting to see what the union comes up with..... I really just want to believe that these guys are setting these records(HRs, etc.) within the rules. If no testing is instituted, I think an asterisk should be beside ALL records saying "No drug-testing instituted in this era".
It's gonna be an interesting thing to watch unfold. What do you think the owners will do? Think they'll crumble as usual or will they finally get some balls and stand up to the union?!
sosa bonds giami cansaco juan gonzales thomas belle are the main players that i suspect. Oh and defintely Brett Boone. Id bet money on him.
I remember seeing Luis Gonzalez at the airport in Houston 6 years ago (nice guy btw, said hi to me...); His arms appeared to be definitely smaller than mine and he didn't look small, but muscled and cut either... Now Luis seems to definitely appear bigger now from what I see on t.v., he could have done this through weight room regime, but I don't know... Regardless of being a nice guy, I'd strongly consider him as a possible juicer.
