In my experience, there is a difference between being gay, and being effeminate. Often they are linked, but I have known many gay men who weren't effeminate, and many effeminate men who weren't gay. Jeff Garcia, for example, comes off a little effeminate when he speaks...but that doesn't mean he's gay...nor does the fact that he plays for San Francisco... ...I really don't care if someone is gay or not, but when they're 'faggy'...ie more effeminate than women I know, in a very intentional and campy way, I find it slightly grating, like any over the top behaviour gets over time...But I have worked in both the fashion and theatre/film industry, and you get a lot of that there... Manny...I am not attacking you, but I am still baffled and surprised by your choice of words re: Michael Stipe's sexual preference... Oh, and James Dean was a switch hitter, as is Richard Gere...I got hit on by the lead singer of the band Pursuit of Happiness once, so he's at least bi...( anyone remember them?)...I had no idea he was, and I was with this gorgeous girl I knew, so I assumed at first he was hitting on her...caught me completely off guard...
Jeff Garcia I have always suspected to be gay, that dude just talks weird. and he plays for The San Francisco 49ers.
Cool...it's more admirable to have an issue and struggle with it than not have one at all. Good luck, bud.
Here here. I like and respect how honest Manny is about it. But I can't help but think this issue is tied deep in the subconscious to his hatred of Britney.
hmmm... well in that case, is eminem gay? i mean one of his songs he says "... i didn't mean to make you cry, but tonight... I'm cleaning out my closet." if he's cleaning out his closet, he must have been in there for a long time... right? hmmmm... spring cleaning, maybe? and lets not forget good ol' trent from nine inch nails with these lyrics from starf'ers inc.. "i am every f'ing thing and just a little more i sold my soul but don't you dare call me a w**** and when i s**k you off not a drop will go to waste it's really not so bad you know once you get past the taste, yeah." this thread is so gay.
Any man who appears on a show such as Trading Spaces.... Tom Cruise Justin Timberlake- Brittney was convenient camo for what he really wants. Andy Dick Kevin Spacey Ricky Martin
OMG -- you got hit on by Moe Berg?!? Pursuit of Happiness was one of my favorite bands in the early nineties. I even interviewed Moe for an article in the UH school paper. All his songs were about how women screwed him over. No wonder he decided to try playing for the other team.
Karl Malone and John Stockton were known to frequent Salt Lake City gay bars together. They were very out in the open about it--
And this picture is a lot better than the real product. Its funny, UT and probably every major women's basketball games are like the WNBA, an audience full of lesbians.
I'madrummer2K makes two, and I make three. I used to love REM...now I can't freaking stand them. Saw them in 1987 at the Universal Ampitheatre on the "Life's Rich Pageant" tour and it was one of the most spectacular live shows I've ever seen. Saw them in 1996 at the LA Forum on the "Monster" tour and I walked out. They were absolutely horrid. Went out the next day and sold my "Monster" CD to the neighborhood used CD store, and I haven't bought one of their CDs since. Bill Berry walked out on REM at the right time, IMHO. Ditto with Bill Wyman walking out on the Rolling Stones.
In regards to who we (heterosexual men) think is or isn't gay, I've always found the best judges of who is or isn't are women and other gay men. Gay men can pick out other gay men like there's no tomorrow.
While we're on an REM rant, here's mine... My friends and I were into 'alternative' music in the 80's before it became trendy...and REM had some cool stuff early on, my favorite still being To The One I Love...cool song... So anyways, we've been listening to them for years, and no one knew who they were...then they get played on 90210 in a big scene...Losing My Religion...and next thing you know they win Best New Band...incredible...We called it the Sweater Invasion...
Yeah...Kim and I were hanging out, as we were going to the ( speaking of very, very gay) Erasure concert that night, and we're in the subway. Kim was a model, tall, blonde, and the kind that guys watch walk by...This guy in a bowler goes by, no joke, and Kim goes " That's Moe Berg!" and we were feeling cheesy, so we go running up, all like " Hey, you're Moe Berg!" As if we were imparting valuable information he needed to have...He agreed that he was, in fact, Moe Berg, and started chatting with us... Then he asks what we're doing tonight, we tell him about the concert, he says that he and some people are having a get-together, and would we like to come?...I'm figuring this is about Kim, so I'm backing off to see how she reacts...and he turns to me, and says " I would really like it if you came in particular." Flabergasted doesn't cover it...he gives me the look, and I'm stammering something about we've gotta get back, busy, friends, etc...and Kim is shocked for a second, but as soon as little Moe ( he's short, do you remember, Mrs. JB) walks on, Kim is literally on the floor laughing...I had never heard anything about him being gay, and he doesn't come off gay till he asks you out...Weird.
