EXACTLY!

I love how everyone thinks its a lock that we'll get out of the first round and is worrying about HCA in the second round. Dallas finally got all their players healthy and are peaking at the right time. Their team is full of veterans who can step it up in the playoffs. we would/should prefer to not play dallas! As someone said before, the playoffs are all about match ups, and we def. match up better against NO!

So all you people worried about HCA in the second round are delusional.....I would prefer for Denver to win tonight!

What you people don't want Denver to win so we don't get homecourt in the second round?! You people are scared! If we don't win our second round without homecourt we don't deserve to go to the WCF!

The number of people rooting against us moving up in the seedings is ridiculous. I bet you are the same people pulling for LA last night so we wouldn't have to play Utah. But of course that just shows how short sighted you are - if you are really worried about the Jazz and the Mavs you should've pulled for Utah to win last night and then if Houston, San Antonio, and Portland win tonight - we would've been 2nd seed AND faced the Hornets.

Here's the bottom line, we can beat anyone. I'm not scared of the Mavs. Would we match up better with the Trailblazers or Hornets? Sure - but then hey, why not just tank tonight against the Mavs so we can get 5th seed and play the Blazers right? Ridiculous - you always want to be as high a seed as possible, end of story.

Portland needs to win. 2nd seed would be sweet!! We need to get our revenge against Dallas if we play them in the first round for what Tim Donaghy did to us in the 05 series!! He screwed us of the series after being up 2-0

PORTLAND. The higher the seeds placing, the more love we get from the media and the more love we get from the media then the more favorable calls we get from the ref.

Every team is top competition, but certain matchups give the Rockets a greater chance to win a ring, and that is ultimately what this whole damn thing is about, right?

I think fans are over-reacting to this playoff senario thing. Fans are sure that Jazz will kick Rocket ass in playoff, Dallas is not a perfect playoff opponent, only NO is our meat in the 1st round.

Who else we want to play in the second round then?
Spurs? No, Duncan and Park will rip us apart.
Blazers? No, they are youthful and athletic, we fear this kind of team. Nuggets then? Mmm....., not no sure about that.

Please cut this pick and avoid crap. Are we still talking about the WCF? Dont we have further vision for this team? Do we focus only on the 1st round? Are fans so lack of confidence?

I have crystal answers to all these questions, what about you!!

All thread starters suggesting or asking any questions that keep us from getting the highest seeded position should be demoted so that we don't have to see and read these WUSSIE threads.

You bring up a good point, but I don't think anyone then was talking about tanking to avoid anybody. Winners have to be focused on winning regardless and let what happens elsewhere happen. No "strategizing" for a certain position. What about the 95 team? They beat 3 great teams on the way to the Finals where they were battle-tested and got the sweep!

Actually I will be cheering for New Orleans tomorrow: It will give NO the sixth seed regardless of the Hou-Dal outcome. It also guarantees Houston will get hca in the first round because SA loses.

I agree with this. If we beat Dallas tonight, I'd still rather face NO than Dallas in a 7 game series, then take my chances with Denver on the road. And to those who say bring on whoever etc, playoffs have always been about matchups (Rockets might not have won a ring if we played Seattle those 2 years).

And I dont necessarily think we match up better with NO, its just they're banged up and seriously lack offensive power for now. Mix that with our D, and I think we're heavily favored. On paper, we match up better with Dallas (if Artest can guard Nowitzki and Battier Howard), but Dallas still has a looot of offensive power, they have the Rocket killer in Terry they can go to down the stretch, and they might still have that confidence of owning us 3 years ago. Not saying I'm scared of Dallas. Not at all. But I'll take NO first round just to be sure.

LOL, dude, all he was really askin was would you rather face Dallas in the first round or NO, thats ALL . I'd actually rather face NO. Unless there's still a chance we're # 2 and NO #7, that'd be great.

you're missing his point.

rooting against other teams to make it easier on the rockets is ok, but rooting against the rockets to make it easier on the rockets is nonsense.

rooting for the nuggets is rooting for the rockets to not have the division title, not move from #3 to #2, and not have HCA in the second round. again, nonsense if you're a rockets fan.
