AJ is a special example. He was set up as the next coach a couple years before Nelson stepped down. In another word, he was not an unknown coach.

C'mon Reggie Theus's not unknown either. He's at least as qualified if not more than AJ.

Avery was promoted from within and groomed by Nellie. The analogous Rockets' coach would be Tom T.

Problem is we live or die by the three pointer. If we are hitting them we are really good. If we aren't we suck cause teams will just clog the paint. As you know, everyone who shoots three's will be streaky. There's only one player I know of that shoots a high percentage three and that's Kapono. But he's not always on either.

Also there is something called "movement" in Adelman's offense where players of don't just stand around waiting for T-Mac to throw them a bone like with JVG's 2 play system. No they play without the ball and set teammates up for easy shots. JVG uses either the "iso with McGrady plus a pick" or just the good old "throw it to Yao and he will bail us out". Don't believe me then take any Rockets tape and watch how the players just stand there frozen in time waiting for either Yao or T-Mac to fetch them the ball.
