not really teams still get to the cup even when Yao is playing theyre not scared to challenge Yao but he does alter shots and get around 2 bpg but to think teams will solely shoot jumpers cuz the wall is bak there isnt an accurate assumption
BTW - Brooks defense is better than Martin's .....his was the worst perimeter defense I had seen since.....Tmac. DD
Then again maybe they will play better D next season with Yao back it will be a different atmosphere, I think they will step up their overall game
I'm picking option three. Keep both and have them work on defense in the summer. Both produce very well for the team so for people to start talk of having them being moved seems strange to me. There cannot be an argument that Brooks cannot lead a team since he showed in the second half of the season when he needs to, he can win a game.
Injured Tmac, you might want to add. Healthy Tmac under JVG played way better defense than Brooks. Without salary consideration, keep Martin is the obvious choice, we have Lowry who is very capable of replacing Brooks. But AB's low salary can't get Rockets an elite or real good player, Martin's contract can. So it's hard to say.
Our backcourt is set up for a championship..we don't need to touch it at all. With Brooks/Lowry and Martin/Budinger/Taylor, we're set. Morey needs to agressively upgrade the froncourt (3,4,5) with big athletic talented players, whether through the draft or free agency...get it done.
Sorry to interrupt this, but if we're all planning on the Rockets to be a playoff team next season then Ariza>>>>Wallace. Shouldn't we rather have a player that was a major contributor in the playoffs on a team that won a championship last season...and also had his clutch moments? What has Wallace done besides prove that he can out-rebound 7-footers for a long stretch of a season?.....and (personally) btw being one of the worst dunk contest contestants since I can remember?.....
Keep both, but Martin if there was no other way... The Rox knew what they were getting into when they signed Martin. He's an established pure scorer (damn good and a quiet one at that). Lowry and Martin combo would be a good compliment to each other.
Keep Martin for sure. If we do get Bosh, Lowry in place of brooks would be just the right balance of offense and defense. Plus just imagine all the free throws we would get with both Martin and Yao.
