I rather have Jeffries back up Scola and Armstrong should get more minutes than David. Also, Hill should be playing way more than 12 minutes, maybe 15-20.
GATER said the exact same thing last night only he strongly feels that, now that we have taller, better options at backup PF and C, Adelman should make Hayes the 12th man. They have performed admirably -- up to and beyond their limitations -- but both need to part of trades next summer. The Rockets upgraded from one 20-point scorer to a better one, so the net difference is roughly zero -- unless we fully utilize our new assets at PF and C.
1. Brooks/Lowery 2. Martin/Bud 3. Ariza/Battier 4. Scola/ Jeffries or Hill 5. Hayes/Armstrong or Anderson Anderson is over matched at the 5 but he shows some signs of Air Bullard 2 and could be of some use. But I'd try Armstrong. I'm sure we will. Ariza needs to just attack the basket every time he sees a crease. His best assets are his freakishly long arms. He should become a jammer and fire up the crowd. I can't remember much about Jeffries but somebody needs to be able to play some defense at the 4. Him or Hill, whichever.
This sounds about right to me. It seems silly to straight up "bench" any of the guys mentioned in the original post.
