Luther Head, no matter what, SA has a Trade Exception from the Beno Uldrih trade, offer Luther and cash compensations for having to deal with such a weak player to the Spurs to see if they can take his arss out of here.
I don't understand why Chuck Hayes is getting so much grief now. I don't agree with the grief Luther gets, but I understand it. I don't get the Hayes hating though. It seems as if his popularity has dropped as his fit on the team improved. As a starter, he was useful but limited -- and popular. Now that he's in a role suited to him, a backup, people want to be rid of him. He did always seem most effective when he had Yao, and he hasn't had that benefit in awhile. He's a great rebounder, a good defender, a tough and smart player; he makes modest money and coach can now afford to hold him out when the matchup is not favorable. I'm not sure what's not to like.
They think that we don't need him now that Landry and Scola have worked out. Plus it seems that as there has to be someone to pick on, now that they can't on Rafer, Chuck is it. I do think that this year he is in more jeopardy of being traded, but I don't think that they will unless it will net them 'that third scorer'. We know that alone he won't get that, but as a package he might just get Morey another scorer.
There isn't anyone on the team I want to just flat out cut. If someone has to be cut to make room for a better incoming player, then I don't care as it will most likely be an extreme fringe player being cut, nobody like Head, Hayes, etc. And I will also agree that the Hayes hate is stupid. He should be a 3rd string specialist, but he is a great guy to have on the bench for depth and matchups.
The funny thing is that he's actually one of the best backup PF's in the game. If we had even decent guard play (outside of Tmac) and our SF wasn't stuck to the corner no one would even care about his lack of offense.
Bobby Jackson will be traded one way or another by the trade deadline next year, I feel like there is no avoiding that. But he and his expiring contract are assets to us, we won't be trading him "at any cost" as much as we would be trading him just to get some value out of his expiring. Luther Head is the one I want to see get no more minutes as a Rocket. He might have no trade value, so I don't care what happens, he can be on our team and get an honorary ring so long as he is #14 on the depth chart. And who is this Lauren Woods you speak of? She sounds hot, we should keep her.
Doesn't Luther Head's rookie contract expire at the end of next season? Then we should easily ship him alnog with Bobby Jackson as an expiring contract thats worth an extra 1 mil? Ok, Luther Head isn't that bad during the regular season...and rebuilding teams never see playoffs anyways
You forgot Shane Battier. I list him under "other. Including Battier, then Luther, Rafer and Hayes all need to be traded for one or more taller, more athletic players who have both offense and defense. But, of course, what team would take any of them?
Head has struggled in not one, but TWELVE playoff games against the Jazz in his career. I don't think that necessarily means he sucks in the playoffs - I think it means he definitely sucks against Utah's physical style of play. He's a proven shooter and is pretty clutch, though.. if he's traded it's because he has value, not "at any cost"
it's all about the playoffs with us. how did he do? i got a lot of love for head, but his disappearance for 2 straight playoffs piss me off. alston showed a lot by rebounding from a bad series last yr and played great despite an injury. head showed nothing.
Actually there's another reason..its none of your business so i won't interest you my friend. But i changed my opinion on Hayes after reading some of the posts. I used to be a big luther fan like a year or 2 ago...but come, he is a mess in the playoffs he couldn't convert on an open lane layup
