Either scenario is fine by me. We get Porter and his $75 million remaining or we get Oubre and eat Mahimi's contract for the next two years. The underlining benefit here is that it saves the Wizards a tax bill for next season if they waive Anderson.
We can work the deal to send Ryno to Atlanta and it totally saves the Wizards any tax issues at all. I feel like there's something workable there and I'm normally pretty rational about these things. Otto Porter is the exact kind of wing we need and he's an elite shooter. Shoot, you add him and the Rockets could try to use minimum only on guys like Ennis and Mbah a Moute and just save the MLE for tax purposes.
lol...great minds. It could work, and its one of those deals that would look like grand larceny in a few years.
We'll be better without Ariza. Not really sure why we're supposed to be upset he left but trust in DM.
Agree. I try to be rational about this stuff too, but there's some real juice to this. Washington has their succession plan drawn up...Kelly Oubre Jr., then Tony Brown. What they don't have is a quality PnR center, nor the ability to sign one...enter Dedmon. Atlanta will want compensation for taking on Anderson and trading Dedmon...Houston can do that. Multiple 1st round picks, Zhou Qi, rights to Hartenstein/Llull/Melton, etc.
I'm optimistic that we will be ok, regardless of what comes next. There's no way Morey lets Ariza walk without better options. We don't know what those options are right now, but it seems obvious that it WON'T be a free agent.
I like Bradley, but is he ever healthy? Sure. Still, I'm in the pro-Bazemore camp as well. Plays well off the ball. Good defender. Fairly durable. History with MDA. Big enough to shoot over 3s, quick enough to guard 2s (which i think is important, because Harden and Tucker are better at guarding 3s/4s.) He's a good fit on this team and he'd essentially replace both Ryno and Ariza, which would help the cap situation quite a bit, overpaid or not. Chandler is not as good on D and as a low-usage off-ball player.
All in on Marcus Smart. He's not a good 3pt shooter but he's a clutch 3pt shooter. Saw him make a ton of clutch 3 pointers last season that saved Boston in multiple games. He has a potential to be a good corner shooter like Tucker on this team and Boston doesn't seem to want to pay him. Him and Tucker on the court would be like 2 bullies against the other team.
Don’t know if I posted in this, but I love Jonathan Simmons’ game. He’s on such a cheap contract so we’d have to take Biyombo or something back. Which is obviously a no.
