Robinson is now a Piston. Evans is only an option if Gordon is packaged with Ryno and shipped out. I really like the Jeff Green idea as our new starter. I also think Corey Joseph would be a great addition to be our true 3rd point guard, if Smelton is ready, that would be great instead. But, I envision him spending next season on the Vipers with Edwards.
I'm guessing because he's thinking of Tyreke as a guard (same reply to @Zo Gi ) It's hard to log true guard minutes behind Harden/Paul/Gordon
Hadn't saw that about Robinson and the Pistons, so I guess he's off the list. I agree that Tyreke Evans value is greater than the MLE but there's just not much money to be had for non-star veterans in this market. I think wherever Tyreke signs it will be for the MLE and we are about the only team that can offer a starting spot and be a legitimate contender to him which will also probably play into why he would take a discount at the MLE. He played for a little over 3 mil last year for the Grizzlies, so the MLE is probably within his value IN THIS MARKET, despite being a player that is worth a lot more in a market with teams with more cap space unlike the current market.
Sure thing, he would be a replacement for EG only since he can't handle the ball. In other words, he plays best off ball. Having both Tyreke and EG on this team would be rather redundant, especially with needs at starting and backup SF, a true 3rd PG, and backup Center to use our mini MLE on. It would create a logjam for our 6th man SG role. Lastly, I'd imagine he'd command more than $5 million per year anyways, which we don't have to spend.
If we sign Jeff Green maybe we can effectively go small with Anderson at the 5 with the second unit. We got to make Anderson and his contract a positive again.
The problem is that I don't believe he starts for us at the 3. He's an instant offense guy off the bench like EG. I think he'd be an option IF EG leaves with Ryno, but that is a big IF, and I don't even know what that return back to us would be. Our MLE is only worth $5 M unfortunately. Some teams MLE is worth $8 M. So there's that too...
Plus, how many spots are open on the Lakers anyways!? If the Kawhi deal goes down sure, but... SA better not trade him there now. Ship him to the Sixers or Boston please, even if it means taking a less favorable deal.
