Mark Jackson is top 5 easy. He is averaging something like 10.1 assist per game too! Not to mention his ability to post up other PG's. He definitely has great court vision and awareness...and makes few mistakes.

    1. Payton - does it all!
    2. Kidd - best passer in the league, bar none.
    3. Marbury - more of a scorer, but not bad at the other duties either.
    4. Mark Jackson - see above.
    5. Francis - needs to get better defensively and become a better playmaker, but will soon emerge as a premier player.
    6. Stockton - as much as I can't stand the guy, he never seems to let his skills deteriorate. Third in the league in assists this year!
    7. Cassell - has gotten better and smarter every year.
    8. Hardaway - Tim that is! Can still dominate a game in stretches.
    9. Van Exel - may be a head case but has consistently averaged about 17 points and 8 or 9 assists, can occasionally be dominant.
    10. Travis Best or Darrell Armstrong - love both these guys, both very quick and great penetrators. I love the undersized, speedy guys!!

All I know is Francis doesn't even crack the top 5.

    1. Payton
    2. Kidd
    3. Marbury - up and coming
    4. Cassell
    5. Brandon

This is where it starts to get hazy.

You can make arguments for Francis, Stockton, Bibby, B. Davis and a number of other players.

    Pimp,

I agree your Top 5 is clear cut

    Kidd
    Payton
    Marbury
    Brandon
    Cassell

Can't we have one thread in the Dish when people post with their brains and not the hearts, Steve Francis has the potential to be top 5 but right now he's not even close, not sure he can shut down any opposition PGs let alone those in the Top 5.

"It's incredible to see how he [Mobley] can beat his guy one-on-one every
time. That is a tremendous talent. The combination of Steve and Cuttino, I
think, is wonderful in the backcourt."

ok, ill post with my brain this time. Here it is: I think that most of the people on this board can not take it when the rockets lose and so they take it out on all the players. after steves good game against the lakers, the posts consisted of: ok since steve played well, i guess we should drop mobley and taylor. I honestly think that steve francis is easily in the top 5 of point guards. I wont give him his number 2 or 3 spot quite yet, but if he plays like he did last year(well a little better, i would definetely give him the 2 or 3 spot.
and how the hell does cassell get a higher spot than steve?
    Cassell-16 ppg, 7 apg, 4.5 rpg
    Steve-17.5 ppg, 6.4 apg, 5 rpg

    same with brandon
    Brandon-16.5, 6.4, 3

and those assist numbers dont tell the whole truth. time and time again i have seen steve penetrate make a pass to walt who then makes another pass to a big man or cat/shandon.

Can't we have one thread in the dish that doesnt tear down just because we lost!

C'mon guys, were still over .500 [IMG]

i didnt even mention that steve has more steals this season than the two combined! or that steve is shooting better at the free throw line than both. or that he is shooting better from outside the arc than cassell.
and he is scoring more than kidd and has less to's

    huh? RIGHT
