Number 3 changes a lot. The other 2 are set in stone.

Just three? Hmm, I guess I'd go with the "if you're stranded on a desert island..." protocol.

    1. Pearl Jam
    2. Miles Davis
    3. Beastie Boys

...with alternates of Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, John Coltrane, Rage Against the Machine, Dixie Chicks and Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, U2, Stone Temple Pilots and the Rolling Stones.

This isn't hard... this is sadistic!

This would change if you asked me on a different night.

    13th Floor Elevators
    Rolling Stones
    Kinks (live)

Gene P., did you see ZZ Top when they were the Movin' Sidewalks? They were great!

    Uh, another night.

    Jimi Hendrix Experience
    Mother Earth
    Deep Purple

    Mmm, different night...

    The Doors
    Traffic
    Led Zeppelin

    Time traveled again...

Big Brother and the Holding Company
    Frank Zappa
    David Bowie

    (sorry)

    Bob Dylan
    Spirit
    Humble Pie

    (ditto)

    Pink Floyd
    Jethro Tull
    Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green

    Spooky Tooth
    Buffalo Springfield
    The Allman Brothers

I'll stop. I saw all these folks, and many, many more. At one time or another they were on my turntable all the time. I really can't pin down "the greatest three", although Hendrix, the Kinks and Mother Earth with Tracy Nelson are probably tops with me if we're talking about seeing them live. And the Elevators. And the Stones.

I'm going to go back to GARM and marvel some more at the picture of heypartner's toilet. Amazing. Really. It's in Smeg's "How would you describe the Rockets if they were a piece of furniture" thread. Check it out.

    1. Radiohead. These suckers are untouchable.

Everything else fluctuates with my moods/age.

    At the Drive-In
    Blur
    Beatles
    Deftones
    Strokes
    Interpol
    Oasis
    The Mars Volta
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
    Jimi Hendrix
    Johnny Cash
    Rage Against
    Zeppelin

And on the hip hop front...

    1. Jay-Z
    2. Anything by The Neptunes collective
    3. Eminem's non-album work (mixtapes, etc.)

    then...

    Nas
    Big
    Snoop
    Devin the Dude (HOUSTON LOVE)
    Scarface (HOUSTON LOVE)

50 got played out so quickly. Why do rappers release the worst songs off their CDs as singles nowadays? (see: Nas, 50, and Jay-Z)

    1. Angie Aparo (damn shame no one's ever heard of him...)
    2. Phil Collins
    3t. Linkin Park
    3t. Goo Goo Dolls

It's kind of funny how I like bands that are on totally opposite ends of the spectrum (which is why I like Aparo, I suppose). I still remember the cashier at Tower Records getting really confused when I was paying for a couple albums, one by Korn and one by Phil Collins...

R2K, you know that 3 of the bands on your list are touring together this summer, right (Queensryche, Dream Theater, Fates Warning)?
