i watch GS a lot my roommate is from up north so we've heard their announcers, they are one of the better tandems around but I prefer Breen/Clyde Frazier or Marv/Mike though.

    its just opinions thats all

lakers announcers are pretty objective relative to the rest.

I hate the spurs announcers. Sean Elliot drives me nuts.

    Hate

Boston - I dont like listening to Peter Griffin give the most lopsided commentary ever, Heihnson is the most biased guy since Johnny Most.
Orlando: Their Dwight Howard love pisses me off.
Portland: The color commentator is biased.
    Utah (Its the j*zz)
Phoenix (Johnson guy): Johnson guy keeps on saying "I mean, come on, he is 340 pounds", puts you to sleep.

    Like: Lakers, Warriors,Knicks,Miami.

    what is his name ?
hod rod hundley was a Chick Hearn side-kick for a couple of years. many of the phrases his used are borrowed from Chick. as an announcer, he is a couple levels below Chick
he is former NBAer, Eddie Johnson

rockets fans should know who Eddie Johnson is, shame that a few here dont.

You know what REALLY REALLY REALLY pisses me off is Billy McDonald a FSN West/Prime Ticket announcer/studio man/reporter out here does UCLA bball games on occasion when they aren't a national game..i think he did a few lakers games as well i think he actually did the game were kobe went off for 81.

but anyway he copies a lot of Chick Hearn's phrases and mannerisms and he is TERRIBLE at it. I cant simply stand him. He acted pretty pompous at the UCLA campus when he did some field reports years ago when I was there. But trying to imitate chick hearn is just a disgrace and an insult to that man's legacy. Using the phrases he coined like "slam dunk" is one think but trying to say it exactly like he did sigh I am not even a lakers fan, probably the furthest thing from it, but it makes me mad I can only imagine what lakers fans think.

Being an NBA fan I didnt have a chance to watch any other games except laker games (since I live in LA county) and whatever games were on nbc, tnt growing up so chick hearn to me was the voice of basketball growing up. Even though I didn't like the lakers he made the game ridiculously enjoyable to watch.

Nets - Marv Albert and Mike Fratello. It must be nice having TNT commentators as your local commentators. These guys are the best in the business and it showed last night.

That Cavs duo is absolutely atrocious.

Want to become a successful announcer!

So you just don't contain any personal emotional color!

With each team or become friends!

With each team or become enemies!

I think they should know what to do!

    My friends!

    The problem they are! :p

Yeah, add the Cavs to the worst list. Damn that was hard to listen to. Again, I don't mind silly homerism stuff, but that was just freakin ridiculous.

after watching the Nets game the other night, it was a fresh reminder that MSG and YES have the best crews working in the business..

this is a scientific fact that can be proven with data, and any others are mere theories which can be disproven.

anyone who does agree with my scientifically proved statement, and it is a statement, not an opinion, should venture out more to see what's out there.

that is just a theory spinned by NYers.

    fact:
    • more out-of-towners pick the team of Barnett and Fitzgerald than any other team, by far.

    fact:

taste tests prove that 4 out of 5 dentists choose Fratello and Albert over so-and-so Small Market Bay Area Guys...

Fact, good performance resonnate, no matter how small the market.

afterall the topic of discussion is on annoucers, not the size of the market.

there are posters from LA (arch rival of the bay area) and Tx that pick the Barnett/Fitzgerald.

Other than NY homers such as you, no out-of-towners pick the YES / MSG

BWAHAHAHAHAA. I'm posting this from Texas as I am on holiday from my home in LA. and I choose the NETS crew, a nationally recognized team, who have risen to the top of the crop and work in the number 1 market for a reason.

and yes, market matters. the best of the best strive to make it to the top.

who's the homer, adoo? you live in the Bay Area and chose the Warriors crew? You should venture out more

my mistake. I saw the phrase you wrote as an out-of-towner to the SF Bay Area. you wouldn't want to admit you were wrong in your assumption of my locale, would you?

because the bottom line is that it is silly to tell someone that their subjective opinion is wrong.

afterall the topic of discussion is on (posters' favorite) announcers, not the size of the market.

and I still chose the YES crew, along with posters from Poland to Canada, in this thread alone. they just bring a level of professionalism to a local broadcast .

That's what I was thinking too during the game. I don't know about the stockton/malone era, but they were certainly better than a lot of the announcers that I had to endure on League Pass.

Nets and Knicks, because they are the same people who do the games for ESPN.

Well the play by play guys.
