Screw it, I want Walker at 4 and Sasser at 20. Or trade both picks. I'm still mad we passed on Grimes
50% free throws 20% three pointers Shooting is kind of an important skill to have in the NBA. He is not just a bad shooter, he is an awful shooter. Think Jalen Green who shoots 50% free throws and can’t hit a three pointer for his life.
He needs work on the jumper for sure, but Amen shoots .646 percent on free throws unless I'm mistaken? https://www.tankathon.com/players/amen-thompson
I get how people feel, but his passing, 6'7 height for PG, athleticism, rebounding and defensive potential are good. Other players with bad shooting turned out to be good picks, Giddy for example. 6'8 can pass, rebound, but poor shooting, less of an athlete than Amen.
People went a little bit overboard with the 3P shooting obsession thanks to freaking GSW. There are other ways to succeed. You'll hear a lot of people talking about Westbrook, Simmons (both extremely talented players whose biggest issues are not their lack of shooting ability), but you don't hear those guys mention how the majority of the top 20 or so players of all time rarely took three pointers and had a low percentage when they did shoot them. Yes, it's a different era, but do you really think those guys couldn't dominate in today's league? Don't make me laugh.
None of the players at 4 are good enough to beat any of our players out, at best they will be backups....and more than likely sent to the Gleague. So, I would trade down and go after Lively around 12 or so. DD
stone has always gone with the highest upside player. he has yet to be concerned with fit. this is an unpopular opinion but I think whitmore is the higher upside player compared to amen. he's almost 2 years younger, just as athletic, can shoot and defend. needs a handle, but that's easier to teach than shooting. amen, or any PG really, fits a need for more playmaking and passing next to jalen and jabari. whitmore would double down on those needs which isn't ideal, but I think there's a good chance he's the better player than amen at the end of their rookies deals and that's really all that matters.
I watched some a little bit ago. It was good. But I wish he wasn't so damn skinny. I'm kind of tired of drafting guys who won't have NBA-ready bodies until they're on their second team. Now I'm leaning Jarace. I like big meaty men. @Jontro
Walker is trash. Sasser at 20 isn't that bad. Walker should of stayed in school basketball wise but I understand it's all about getting to league and getting paid.
Interestingly, John Hollinger has Cam third, Brandon Miller fourth, and Anthony Black fifth before getting to the twins. Maybe the top end of this draft isn't as shallow as we think.
