I just like rooting for teams/players I like to watch play because I want to see them play more

    Boston
    Nets(sans KMart grr)
    Charlotte

    Dallas
    Sacramento
Blazers(only for Sheed and Bonzi, hate watching the rest of the team)
Spurs(only for Duncan, the rest of the team bites)

I also like the Bucks, but not the team that's in this slump right now. I have no faith for them to turn it around this season, so scratch them off the list.

New Jersey, but I know realistically they dont have a chance against any team in the west.

If someone from the West wins I hope it is Dallas or Sacramento, don't really care for the other Western teams (esp. Utah, Lakers and Blazers). I am hoping someone from the East wins though - particularly Boston, New Jersey, Milwaukee or Orlando. The othre East teams I couldn't give a rats a$$ about (esp. Philadelphia and Toronto)

For some reason, I have the strangest feeling in my gut that Utah will prevail as champions this year.

    Commence flaming.

I'd like to have the Lakers win it all... or, just for laughs, any Eastern Conference team. :D

Anyone but the Mavs... I wouldn't be able to bear the brunt of these so-called basketball fans known as "Mavs fans".

Go C's!! The Celts dynasty is back! if they can take the East then....they still have no shot to beat the West but at least they are an entertaining team.

    Mavs in the West

    Celtics in the East
(not sure why I am pulling for the Celts, other than I like watching them)

Might as well go for the Kings over the whomever. The Nets? The Hornets? It just don't matter none.

I can't stand the Lakers. Can't back the Spurs: don't want Duncan to have extra incentive to stay after next year, not to mention lure Jason Kidd to SA at that time. The Mavs could surprise, but 3 pt-shooting usually doesn't carry a team all the way. Wolves, Blazers, Mavs will combust. Sonics won't have that big a run in them. And the Jazz? Last team in the world I'd root for.

As far as the East, it's tough because anyone can beat anyone, and the NBA Finals will have been decided in the West anyway.

The Mavs DON'T combust. They are gritty as hell. Have you watched much of them this year? I live in Dallas, and I watch them all the time. They can play with anyone in the league, including LA. I don't think they can win a 7 game series against LA, but I think they have possibly the best chance in the West to beat the reigning champs.

Anyway, they don't collapse like San Antonio has a tendency to do, they play hard for 48 min. It's scary. A lot of teams in the league could learn from the Mavs.

Geeze, I sound like a Mavs bandwagoner. AAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!!

When I say "the Mavs probably won't make it," (paraphrase) I mean, "in a 7-game series against the Lakers."

Gritty? Well, they can score. Their defense is pretty poor.

The Lakers will probably win it of course...depending on Shaq's pain threshold.

By gritty, I mean they hang in there, hang in there, keep the game close, and more often than not find a way to win the game.

Their defense isn't poor, but isn't stellar either. It was worse before they brought in LaFrentz.
