Options at the C position Ok - so perhaps I'm overreacting slightly - but here is my list of players who are unrestricted free agents and could help us at the C position. Rasheed Wallace - I think he's exactly what we need. Can block shots, spread the floor, and has good length. Not the greatest rebounder - but thankfully that's an area of strength for Scola. I'd see them as a great frontcourt combo. Chris Anderson - wow, times are tough when the Birdman looks like a halfway decent option... But the fact is he's got legit size, can rebound and block shots and is mobile in transition. Morey has already hinted that we're looking for a faster style - could be a fit? Zaza Pachulia - not great at all, but has a solid post game, a solid FT stroke, a solid rebounder, a solid jumpshot. Basically he's the poor poor mans version of Yao Ming. Athleticism wouldn't be great with Zaza + Scola Chris Mihm - if we could bring him in for the minimum he'd be a decent backup. Can shoot the 15 footer and is passable in the rebounding and shot-blocking departments. Is also 7' tall... Apart from those guys I can't see anyone on the list who would be worth using some (or all) of our MLE to sign. And Rasheed Wallace may well get a better offer than the MLE. Anyone else see a potential UFA on the list? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=freeagents-09-10 I guess my dream would be to get Wallace through a S&T deal with Detroit - using TMac's contract and bringing back something like Tayshaun Prince. I'm not sure why Detroit would do that though...
There's zero point in going after a dinosaur like Rasheed if we're no longer contending. We need a fire sale... Battier, SnT Artest, Scola... anyone of value older than about 26 years old must go for prospects. That's the way I look at it, anyway.
None please. If we're going to rebuild, don't be half-assed about it. Suck and suck hard, get high draft picks, build up draft picks, and make astute trades with what we have.
So you think rebuilding through the draft actually works? How come the same teams are sitting in the draft year after year while the same teams are contending year after year? And when the contenders lose their big salary players, the high draft picks who have played their 3-4 seasons jump ship and sign with the contenders. Picking up Wallace wouldn't rule us out as a team that could make the second round. Just sign him for 2 years, and then we can look at the FA market again with lots of cap room.
Only if the Clippers give us a first round draft pick too. Those 2 have UGLY contracts - and they aren't known winners either...
It worked well for Portland, and DM is just as smart as KP as a GM, if not smarter. Morey has shown he can find gems at the bottom of the draft, and even in the second round, what makes you think he cant do it at the top of the draft?
I'm sure Orlando is worried about their financial well being. I'm sure we can give Marcin a decent contract and stop Orlando from matching. They have other things to worry including getting a better forward which they will be targetting in free agency. Anything is possible.
No Rebujild, just try to get Amare Stoudemire The Suns are committed to trade Stoudemire before next season starts, and a rumor is that they will trade Amare to Golden States for 3 players and Step. Curry, but Golden States do not want to include Curry in this deal. So it looks like all the Suns want are just to get rid of Stodemire and get some young talents in return. Perhaps the Rockets might not need to trade Tracy Mcgrady to get Stoudmire if that's the case. Stoudemire can play 4 or 5, if Yao is really going to miss next season (hopefully he will return by end of the regular season), we are still going to have our core guys, Scola, Battier, Artest (needs to resign him), Lowry. And Mcgrady will be back by mid-season. The question is that what the Suns want from the Rockets, are Carl Landry and AB going to be enough? I really doubt it, how about plus Brian Cook's expiring contract, Jermaine Taylor, and future 1st round draft pick? The Rockets need to realize that they need to do anything to get Stoudemire and hope for Yao can return in next season. Because as a die hard fan, I'm tired of "always next year" or "rebuilding this team" after we finally got out the 1st round in the playoffs. If they are able to pull off this deal, Les Alexander will still be able to make some profits off the commerical and TV. What the Rockets need to do? 1. Do whatever it takes to get Stoudemire 2. Resign Ron Artest 3. Hope Tmac will not be included in this deal, and Yao can come back. 4. Use MLE to sign a backup Center and get a Back-up PG.
Do you think these 3 players Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli would match Amare's Salary? Also according to Warriors head coach Don Nelson, Stephen Curry will not be any part of this deal. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4290870
