None of the playoff bottom feeders in the East has Golden State's talents. The only possibility is Cleveland dropping to number 8. That said, that's not my point. The point is, the Celtics are a much much better team than any of Garnett's Minnesota teams he ever had. You can't say that they don't have a very good chance of making to the NBA Finals this season.

And if that happens (which is very likely) what separates the "loser" Garnett from the "winner" Garnett is not Garnett himself but his teammates. That's why using team success to measure individual success is very flawed logic.

When you leave a playoff team in Toronto to get out from under Vince Carter's shadow, you can't use that defense. When you quit on your next team to come play with another top ten player in Houston, you can't use that defense.

He wasn't the franchise player in Toronto. He developed into one in Orlando where he singlehandedly carried his team into the playoffs. (BTW, the Magic was supposed to be the most promising team with him and Hill together. That never materialized with Hill's injuries.) Demanding to be traded to a winning team was no more quitting on the team than what Garnett and Kobe did at the end of last season.

Garnett is playing with TWO stars in Boston. He is the THIRD leading scorer on that team. And people are saying how "unbelievable" he is. And I can bet that if the Celtics win it all, Garnett will be labeled a "winner" from then on.

Depending on your definition of great, Derrick Coleman didnt advance until late in his career. Shareef Adbur Rahim never even WENT to the playoffs his first 10 years, let alone advance.

Just looks worse and worse for McGrady and Yao :( That they're gonna go down with the Derrick Colemans of the NBA
