    It took me a second for this to sink in....Whitney Mercilus has more sacks right now than Barwin, and Reed COMBINED !...wow

    Yea. I think they were talking about Barwin on the radio last week. They were saying they don't expect him to be a Texan next year.

    Are we gonna draft another outside linebacker to replace Barwin? :eek:

    Almost same situation as Mario.

    Someone could end up paying Barwin a **** load of money.... :( and we still have to resign G. Quin.

    mercilus was that guy. We'll draft another one for depth, but Mercilus and Reed could play the majority of downs in theory, and neither one is due for a big payday the following yr

    Separately, Barwin's down year makes it a lot less likely that he'll be paid a ton

    This is the same guy who had 11.5 sacks last year btw, if we can retain him with a cheaper deal no reason to give up our depth at olb.

    If we plan on Mercilus being the starter at WOLB next year (we did spend a first rounder on him), I could see Barwin being offered a starting job somewhere else and getting paid accordingly. I'd say the chances of him being here next year are less than 50/50.

    What is the Texans Rookie record for most sacks in a season and who owns the record? Mercilus should break it while playing less than half a season worth of snaps:eek:

    His numbers are down but he doesn't suck.

    either way, I still see the texans taking a couple LBs fairly early to help sure up depth, both inside and out.
