You are right, Eurocentric biases have divided and conquered Asians as a whole. We are more divided when compared to other racial groups and here in America and Canada we have very little to any support groups to deal with our grievances.
Asians have been divided almost all of recorded history. Since it's inception China has called itself the Middle Kingdom which explicitly meant that everyone else were barbarians. The Japanese for centuries considered themselves divine and all other inferior. Southeast Asia has many times been racked by ethnic hatred including massacres of Chinese. The idea of an Asian identity is something that is relatively new and really comes from America where Asians have largely been classified by race (oriental or Aisian) and in the wake of the Civil Rights movement found more in common with each other.
Yet Asians almost always come here and have success through very hard work while African Americans continue to father children for which they are only sperm donors and a great deal blame white people for all their failures. In the midst of this, the SCOTUS upheld the reverse discrimination of affirmative action at UT. By and large, African Americans would rather blame white people for their many troubles than take accountability for their children and really almost anything than take advantages of the opportunities offered to them. Our president fosters this stupid agenda and tries to race bait them with EVERY opportunity. Nothing but common sense here.
Because centuries of racial oppression are expected to be reversed in a couple of decades. White supremacist, religious zealot extraordinaire strikes again. I agree that many AAs have to take accountability, to but paint such a general picture is naive at best.
Understand that someone like cml750 wants to marginalize and belittle blacks -- and black men in particular, since he doesn't see women of any race as threats or contemporaries of any kind -- at a primal level that slanders them sexually and uses fatherhood mythology to label them as less than human males. Just like his simplistic, graphene-thin Christian and conservative convictions, cml's racial worldview is just the residue of an inner rot brought on by cultural provincialism and a child-like wish to be part of a team.
Like it or not, he is more correct than not. If one takes race from the equation, its pretty obvious that a lack of a family structure and poverty is a detrimental combination.
And yet you see a completely different picture from black families that have immigrated from African countries right? I wonder where this divided family structure first originated... I'm not saying you yourself should feel any sort of blame (the same way many right wing extremists use discrimination against U.S Muslims based on acts overseas) , but it helps provide a better understand of the issues we are faced with and the methods to best solve them with.
Always funny how when people play the race card always forget that African immigrants do just fine in America... https://www.bloomberg.com/view/arti...t-just-asian-immigrants-who-excel-in-the-u-s- So yes, the broken family usually comes out of poor communities. It would be nice if many kept it a socioeconomic thing but they don't. They always mention "Asians" almost like wagging their finger. If you are immigrating to America you likely have a plan too and some kind of finance to make that happen. Some of them already have scholarships to some American college in the first place.
It's amazing how differently people who were enslaved, colonized, and conquered have difficulties in all countries not just the U.S. In the U.S. African-Americans, Hawaiians, Mexican Americans, and Native Americans all fare poorer than immigrants including those from who've immigrated voluntarily from Africa. In Japan, Koreans do poorly. In China Tibetans and Mongolians have difficulties. It's the same in all over the world. What happened generations ago still affects groups in nations everywhere, not just the U.S. Or you can blame it on Korean culture (but only in Japan) etc.
So you want me to read all that Obama has said about it, and then only focus on the parts that you focused on, and pretend the rest of what he said doesn't exist? Obama mentioned race as a motive in the police attacks in Dallas. Nothing else he said changed that.
Come back to me when those Asian families were subjected to 300 years of slavery and 100 years of Jim Crow/Black Codes where they received **** education opportunities and were redlined into ghettos. You think that history that all theoretically ended in 1964 doesn't get passed down to the next generation?
